Blackberry users not happy

my wife is all blackberry, all the time. she hates touchscreens and has no use for applications. and the blackberry is the simplest, most effective tool for her.

My Curve has never turned itself off and never called anyone from my pocket unless I forgot to turn the keyboard lock on. User error is not BB's fault. I have at least 5 friends I can think of off the top of my head that have BB's none of them have ever had this issue.

Every time it turns itself off it was locked, it was locked when it made the emergency call too. i know someone else that had one make an emergency call when locked. There have been several times where i pulled it out of my pocket and the prompt was up asking if i wanted to make an emergency call and the screen was locked. Just two of the many reasons the thing is a fucking pile of shit and i will never buy another Failberry.

Just because you have never had it happen doesn't mean it can't happen. Lots of people will tell you Twinkies don't mold. I've seen a moldy Twinkie.

And i just held my phone in my hand, looking at it being locked, and pressed and held the power button, guess what, it turned off, you lose, it's a pile of shit.

I have had a BB for about two years, and will be going with an android based phone next. No real complaints on the phone, everyone else is just offering more with their OS

My thoughts exactly. My Pearl and Storm have treated me well but I'm ready to move on to something Android.

I don't know anyone with an iPhone that has had their phone pocket dial 911 or that frequently turns itself off in their pocket. Maybe that has something to do with the Failberry down fall.

Isn't that a product of your carrier and not your phone? i.e. iPhone can do it because it is on AT&T but a Blackberry on AT&T/T-mobile could also do that, couldn't it?

Looks like me and the other guy I know aren't alone there.

Here's another just to show it happens on multiple models, although my friend that had it happen had a different phone than me.

I'm going to take up a collection to buy Brad a new Sprint phone to hold him over until his contract is up just so we don't have to have him complain about his damn phone anymore.

I gave up my BB 8830 World phone on Verizon last month. The OS support for this phone from Verizon was atrocious. I had to pull the battery at least once a day to reset the phone. I would rather RIM and Verizon not release 100 different phones and concentrate on a small number of them and GET THEM RIGHT. BTW, Verizon coverage runs circles around AT&T.

As much as it pained my to go to AT&T, I picked up an iPhone last month. I am not crazy about the touch screen keyboard but I can run SSH, RDP and VNC on it for work, and it doesn't suck to do so. It's not great due to the screen size but it is light years ahead of BB in this case.

Best app for the iphone? "I am T-Pain" - lol. Not really, I have this app called ScanBizCards that takes a picture of a business card and uses OCR to put it in my contacts list. It rocks.

Thats just great, Brad. Thanks a lot. Every time an electronic device has a common problem and I buy one....it happens to me. So..I guess i'll just wait until it happens. Its inevitable while in my possession. Thanks a dickload for this man. If I was left in the dark and never knew about it, I would be fine and it would never happen to me. But since I know, It'll probably happen tomorrow. I'm holding you personally responsible if my phone messes up.

Out of curiousity I put my phone in standby and then held the power button. It appears that after about 3 seconds of holding the end/power button the phone comes out of standby. Which is rather stupid. I can't really test the random shut off issue other than assuming that if at times your end button gets pressed long enough to disable standby/keylock, that it also gets pressed long enough to turn itself off. Easy solution would be to just get a holster. Or just continue to call it a Failberry. Your choice.

iPhone > * and I used to make fun of LT1PAT's iPhone ALL THE TIME. Then I started using it on our roadtrips. And then I bought my own. And now my gf wants her own.

Don't get me wrong I love my Blackberry (had a bunch of them now) but the second VZW gets an iPhone I'm outta here LOL

I want to see pics. And btw, I just searched around on the internetz for about an hour about the track ball issue. Seems like they fixed that problem a long time ago.

Crap! I lost it! it has been in my photobucket forever and I can't find it now. I found a video on youtube though

The Iphone is a toy. ... Apple only offers touch screen. That will never fly in the corporate world.

Hrm, my employer is probably10,000 times the size of yours and we use, among other devices (naturally) iPhones.

Same with a buddy of mine who had Palm's for years. Once he really sat down with my iPhone and tested it he was sold.

Web surfing on an iPhone is second to none. Email is great. It supports IM. Plus I love the built-in iPod - that's how I listen to podcasts in my car.

There is no other phone on the market that even comes close to iPhone in terms of total user functionality.

But but but .. It doesn't have keys.. No shit.. It's modern technology. Their touchscreens are lightyears ahead of anything Palm/BB has ever engineered.

Agreed. Touchscreen is so much cleaner than some stupid keyboard on your phone. But then again, touchscreen is not for everyone. Some people require buttons. ;)
