BJ Penn -vs- St. Pierre

As a figther, they need to be confident, but Penn's arrogance is off the charts!! Not saying he's not a great fighter, just a little full of himself.

GSP, is probably the one of the best conditioned fighters in MMA today, BJ looks like he has never done a minute of cardio, either that, or he eats like complete shit.

I think it will go rounds, simply because they are both very intelligent fighters and there will be a heightened level of caution, but in the end GSP will come out on top due to conditioning.

However, if GSP brings his game, and goes after Penn like he did in Hughes II and serra II, BJ is done and very quickly, as I don't think he can handle the pace.

Penn called GSP a little B!tch for tapping when he was being punched in the face by Hughes.

Penn said he has never tapped for being punched in the face - fights have been stopped, but he never tapped.

It was Serra that beat GSP on strikes, not Hughes.

Penn with the knock-out

GSP's striking isn't very good, and he couldn't submit a gassed BJ

GSP's striking isn't very good?? Are you serious?? The guy is one of the best all around fighters in the sport. His standup is great and his wrestling is great.

I'm not sure how to call this one. I agree with what everyone has said about BJ gassing. GSP's conditioning is amazing, Penn's is not. Penn is not going to get KO'd and he's not going to get subbed. I see somebody getting stopped with strikes. I kind of want GSP to win because I think Penn is a little too cocky.

It didn't affect him?? GSP himself said that he was having trouble breathing. He had never experienced that and it was hard for him to adjust. Also you said in your earlier post that he got dominated. Which is not true.

No, it didn't affect him. He still performed very well. He may never have experience that before, but he still won the fight. He still looked damn good to me.

This should have been a poll. We will see what happens Saturday. I won't know til Sunday since I'll be on the plane ride home. :(

If it goes past the first round, GSP....

BJ will gas out

X2 It always seems like GSP has better conditioning than BJ. In the first round I think it's anybody's fight though. Then again I've been so out of the MMA loop as of late and don't really know whats going on anymore.

I think he had it backwards. Hughes was the one who had the fight stopped vs BJ with punches to the face, Hughes had BJ in a crucifix-like hold and just hit him until they called it. You'd think 20 unanswered hits to the face would have knocked him out or at least destroyed his face, but it didn't.

BJ easily won the standup between the two in their first fight. Smashed GSP's face up pretty good. Sure, he gassed and lost the decision, but he had no problem with George on his feet.

Don't forget how bad Serra beat him with his hands as well.

I agree that BJ can handle GSP on the feet, I just don't agree with saying GSP has no standup. I think he's very precise and creative if you want to call it that. I could see BJ ending this with strikes, but I know that GSP will not KO Penn. I might have to lean towards Penn on this one unless it goes to a decision. I just don't see how GSP is going to be able to end the fight.

if you look at the last 2 fight with penn vs. sherck, and vs. Stevenson....penns cardio looked really good....so if that b j penn shows up on Saturday then we will have a good fight on our hands...
and i forgot who said that the way bj "looked" as to say he looks fat...i will just name a few fighters that "look" fat and they DO have plenty of gas....fedor, josh barnett, nogeria,etc....looks CAN be deceiving...and remember that the more and bigger your muscles are...the more oxygen they need...

Two things that will not happen on Saturday. GSP will not KO Penn and GSP will not submit Penn. Penn took a beating from Lyoto who is a better striker than GSP and didn't get knocked out. Also BJ's ground game is on another level. BJ was submitting blackbelts as a whitebelt.

I forgot GSP got poked in the eye. That really sucks. Every picture I've seen of BJ Penn showing his hands, I think he is advertising for a womans magazine. He needs to trim his damn finger nails. His nails look like they belong on a women they're so long. GSP's eye that got poked is waaay more swollen then the other.

i doubt his nails are "too long" before they get in the cage the ref checks their nails, cup, and for foreign material.

.

I remember that fight, the Ref stopped it, BJ didn't tap.

GSP tapped when he was repeatedly punched int he face, Maybe it was Serra, but I thought it was Hughes.

Because GSP tapped from punches, BJ calld him a little b1tch

No maybe, it was Serra. The only time Hughes beat GSP was in their first fight and it was by arm bar.

x2 Neither of those things will happen.

He's Hawaiian, he's going to look like that no matter what ;)

Yea, look how fast sokodju gassed on Saturday

i tell you what I think affliction is putting together some excellent cards...i think fedor and josh will be another good fight(they kinda have to fight now)...im pretty sure josh is about the only top pride guy that fedor didn't fight...it sucked that chris horideski couldn't fight though, i wanted to see him again.
