Bike owners

I've been riding for 15 years... and my daily rider is a 2003 CBR600RR.

People who say 600s are slow and boring... all they know how to do is wack the gas on the highway. My 600RR is a blast to ride every day.

I've raced motocross and owned street bikes. My opinion about 600's isnt based on "wacking the gas on the highway" All around they are more fun to ride. 1liters arent stupid. thats like someone saying Oh my mustang GT is fast enough i dont even know why someone would have a 9 second street car.

i rode a gsxr 1000 all last summer. first time i rode a street bike. i had no issues and the bike itself is badass. it is streched so it spins the tires before it wheelies. i would be bored with anything less than that though. i would be dissapointed if i bought a 600. im not into going 200mph but i like for it to give me a lil thrill when i want it too.

ive owned 600's 929's 954's and 1000's. I started on a 600. The whole "it gets boring" is dumb to say. I agree with mike on that one. You get bored with a 600? Why cuz your out pushing the limit trying to impress the 16yr old girls in the car next to you? Or are you trying to race every "fast" car you see thinking your a badass on a crotch rocket?

Getting a 600 would be the best option. A bike doesnt drop value as much as you think..theres always the next guy in line...just like yourself looking for a used 600. ive never lost money on selling a bike after riding it till i stepped up. Ive also never gone out and bought a brand new bike either. Never needed to.

Get a used 600 and get your experience. 600's are just as fun to ride as a 1000. You being inexperience..buying a brand new 1000..your asking for trouble. your gonna grab yourself a hand full of throttle..thinking you got it..and end up flipping that bike right over. Or better yet..grabbing a hand full of front brake and eating pavment.

Agreed. Although it would depend on if you "fit" on a 600. If your a big/tall guy, you might want to look for something you dont feel cramped on.

I had a 01 ZX6-R for a season. I'm a big dude, 6'2" and like 270 (fail) and that bike was no slouch. Basically stock, and it was a blast everyday I rode it, never thought I needed anymore, plenty of "thrill".

90% of riders dont even use a 600 to theyre full potential, you really cant on MI roads. Nobody NEEDS a liter bike. You can do w/e you like on a 600, and theyre light and nimble.

Buy a used 600, I loved my Kawi, and would buy another. Comfyest seat out of all 3, 99formula has a CBR and his seat sucks. Buddys have had GSXR's ive sat on/rode, seats are decent. Egronomically, there all realitively simalar, its all personal preference really.

Ride all 3 if you can before you buy one.

Most of all, BE SAFE!

I picked up a '82 Yamaha XJ750R Seca last summer to learn on.
It's no looker, but I don't care to impress anyone.
I don't need some shiny crotch rocket to make me feel better about how I look as I'm hitting the pavement...It's gonna happen. It just hasn't yet for me. It's tipped over twice, just happened to be stopped in a driveway and a parking lot instead of moving down a road.

You can pick a bike up like mine for $1000 if you don't need a machine to try and get laid and/or look cool. You should be worrying about the road, not what the chick in the car next to you is thinking anyways.

Get a cheap ass bike that can be destroyed and not cry over it...that's my opinion.

in all honesty... get whatever bike fits you the best... i never rode a street bike and bought a 2000 honda superhawk 996.... thats 996cc V-twin with a huge rear sprocket... pulled the tire up at every light.... i sold it and bought a 2007 yamaha r6 and am much happier with the power... however the seat height its WAY too tall for me to be comfortable all of the time. but i love the bike. if i were you i would look for a 600 gsxr or something like that maybe an older r6 or zx6r or cbr600/f4I.... yada yada... for like 2k-5k you can have a nice bike... buy one right now because prices go way up in a couple of months...

does it have to be a street bike or can it be a cruiser? because a friend of mine
(forum member here) has a big V-twin Yamaha with low miles for sale. PM me if you want.

I'm VERY happy with my 600, with a good rider they dip into the 10's stock so thats plenty fast for me + mods hehe

I've ridden onesport bike. It was an older ninja 600, and I thought it was quick.

BTW, the new ninja 250s look nice! About time they redesigned it.

I keep catching myself looking at the HD sportsters.

check these out my dad built all of these

My boy wasn't an experienced rider and bought a Busa. Everyone kept telling him how dumb he was for buying the bike and his reasoning was he wanted to grow into it. Well after he ate the back end of a semi at 145mph on I96 I realized something. He would've did that regardless that day if he was on a 600 or his Busa. Its all in how you ride like people have said. We all are gonna push the limit sometimes on our bike, just be careful no matter what you decide. All it took was for me to see him laying there in pieces for me to stay off my crotch rocket and get me a cruiser. I couldn't be happier with my V ROD.

None of the above were the reason. Im not new to bikes at all. I started on a R6. It was a nimble bike and handled well. a buddy had a 05 gxsr 750 and i really liked riding that. pulled harder out of corners and just felt better. i liked the power. Then last summer i spent a good amount of time on a modded 08 1 liter. Of all the bikes ive rode and owned the 1liter was the nicest i felt. thats all i was getting at.

Buy what you like, Just don't follow the advice of 1badSn95. If your going to street ride a 600 is way more than enough. With a decent rider it will run mid-10, and run to into the 160's. Anyone who says they are pushing a modern sportbike past is limits, is a liar or doesn't understand the bikes limits.

Dont waist your time on a 600. Give yourself something to grow into. 600's are slow and boring.

I look at it like this.

Okay, your new to bikes you wanna be safe and just get your feet wet? Your going to buy a 600 and ride it for a summer. Your going to get comfortable and bored on it. Your then going to take a hit and lose money on the sale of the 600. Then spend more money on a 750 or 1k. Remember the bike only goes as fast as the rider twists the throttle. go with a bigger bike and save yourself money, time and frustration.

X2, Go With a used 750, they ride just like a 600 But With a Little more power. 600's are sluggish untill you either Clutch it Or Get way up there in teh powerband. I Feel that its Much easier to Rie a bike with Torque where you Dont have To Downshift back To 1st gear at 20mph...

That Said, My first bike was a 600, cool the First week but then became the Most Boring 2 weeks of my life until I got My Busa, I later Swithced to a GSXR 1k but WEnt Back to the Busa for another 5years or So. The Busa was the most Comfortable bike I ever Rode, and I Think Iver ridden everything out there... :)
