Are Police officers held to a higher standard?

Long story shortened - State trooper was fired for posting on a KKK website while off-duty. Judge reinstated him based on First Amendment rights. What do you think? Are cops held to a higher standard?

What are your thoughts on this?

Personally, Im not in favor of any hate groups or any groups at all, But I think they expect too much from cops, even while they are off duty, as long as they act professional and fair while on duty, i really dont care what they do off duty.

You can't possibly be serving the public fairly like it says in their job description if you are a RACIST! That's like not being able to swim and then complaining about being kicked out of Navy Seal training...
 
He should be OFF the force....no question. If he is posting on a KKK website obviesly he is racist. You know any black or jewish or any other race (edit: or religion) for that matter other then white is gonna be treated VERY unfair by him.

depends on what part of the KKK he's involved in to be honest. A lot of KKK chapters have diverted to "white Pride" instead of "white power" which basically means being proud of their heritage, and not thinking of themselves as a "surpreme race" any longer. I had to do a hugeee report on this in college, i'll see if i can dig up any of my research
 
I will not comment on this topic in this thread.....all of my opinions on this topic are in the original thread in the current events forum.....None of my feelings/opinions have changed as far as this subject goes!
