Apparently, you can't fix stupid in Camp Mustang...

Obviously you live in a fantasyland. One in which everything you type must be true. You think all of that stuff is just an accident? You think it was a coincidence that they announced the horsepower of the GT500 on the day the ZL1 was announced? That is was just blind luck that the gearing allowed the GT500 to go to 60 before shifting? That Ford just decided to keep their track times secret? Are you fucking kidding me?

Does anyone know of a language that brick walls understand?

They announced the hp because of the cars introduction at the LA Auto Show. That was November 15, 2011. Chevrolet introduced the ZL1 at the Chicago auto show. That was February 9th, 2011. So except for the fact that you're totally fucking clueless about the timeline for the intros for the cars and off by about ten months, you're totally right. I guess Ford should have called GM and said "Can you guys pick a date prior to the launch of our soon-to-be-available car where we can talk about it without sending you into butthurt open letter writing mode?"

You're just gonna ignore the "no releases about 0-60" thing forever because it debunks both your dumbass theories. I told you why the car has the long gearing, and you can read SVT staff saying the same thing. What you can't read is them babbling in a press release about the 0-60 time you and Al simulate all over each other about. In any case, your criticism has no point. 0-60 is the smallest of the ass rapings a GT500 gives an Al-Mobile. Are you gonna roll with "Durr, the gt500 is only so powerful because Ford wanted to make it fast!" next?

Do yourself a favor and loosen your Oppenheiser edition mom jeans. They are cutting off the blood flow to your brain.

Shouldn't the title of this thread be changed back due to Geoffs ignorance?

This is why I'm a Mopar guy. We're slow and don't care.

I guess I'm a Mopar guy now, too! I think I may bring my Charger out to Milan this spring one time just to see what it will do. I know it won't set the world on fire but I am curious how quick it is.

Am I the only one that dislikes the 2013 Mustang front fascia?
I wouldn't say I dislike it but I would say I like the 2010 - 2012 much better. The 2013 still hasn't grown on me.

Even though I am a "GM guy", if I had to rate the Big 3 pony cars, I would rate them like this:

Appearance:
1) Dodge Challenger
2) Ford Mustang
3) Chevrolet Camaro

Overall:
1) Ford Mustang
2) Chevrolet Camaro
3) Dodge Challenger

As far as all the rest of the discussion about performance, I guess all this really makes me just that more impressed with the '01 - '02 F-bodies. They weren't necessarily lookers (the Camaro, at least) but they were great performers. 10 years later and these cars bone stock only run what my '02 Camaro did with less than $500 in mods. :D It also gives me hope for the next gen. IF they can keep it close to as light weight as the ATS and it has the new LT1.... well, the Ford boys better have some big future plans for the Mustang or I'm not sure it will be much of a contest. That would put the Camaro gaining 25 hp and losing 500 lbs.

All I know is the ZL1 is a ring chaser and doesn't keep the heritage of the 69 drag car. Might as well make the Boss a drag car and a Cobra jet an on-road.

And while we're butchering name plates lets bring back the LT1.

All I can say is that it sure takes an aweful lot of words to counter what I can put in once sentence. Science says that if you have two solutions, generally the simplest one is true. I am going with science on this one.

I agree.

Science:

February 9th ≠ November 15th

He was actually using the Oppenheiser Theorem, in which unrelated dates and events are always directly correlated to ZL1 Ring Times.

Who the fuck cares about GM's press release? This is gonna come as a shock to you, but when auto manufacturers are at car shows, they talk about the products they have at those shows. Ford introduced the GT500 at the LA Auto Show, which is one of the most important auto shows in the world. So, they talked about the GT500 at...the LA Auto Show. This is a crazy concept, I know. Next time, I'll recommend to Ford that when they introduce a car at an auto show that was planned months in advance, don't actually disclose any factual information about it unless you've checked with GM to make sure they won't be butt hurt about it potentially trumping any news GM has. I mean, are you serious dude?

You are really grasping for straws.

"It has nothing to do with the major international car show, and everything to do with upsetting the fat man in the mom jeans!" GTFO.

You have your opinion and I have mine.

Also, I noticed something while looking that up - Ford actually had a dyno a the Auto show last year - remember? This seems odd for a company that deosn't care about specs or numbers. I am sure there is a logical explanation you will tell me in another 500 word dissertation.

Here is a press release where they directly compare the GT500 to the ZL1. So I guess they only care about stats when they are in Fords favor?

Even with the most powerful production V8 in the world, the 2013 Shelby GT500 improves on the fuel efficiency of the 2012 model with an EPA-estimated 15 mpg city, 24 mpg highway and 18 mpg combined with no gas guzzler tax. That’s 5 mpg better on the highway than the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 even with an extra 82 horsepower and 75 lb.-ft. being generated under the hood.

By the way Jeff, if this was how it worked, then every thread you post in would have to be titled: "Apparently, you can't fix stupid in Camp QWKSLVR...".

I will just say one more thing about this.

As a long time Mustang guy, and a guy who owns mustangs now, and will own more later......I would be royally PISSED if the GT500 got it's ass kicked in the 1/4 by a Camaro, and the only thing I could say in it's defense was that it was faster on a road coarse half way around the world

Most Mustang enthusiasts enjoy these cars on the street and the drag strip, so Ford did the right thing by producing a GT500 that someone can buy and cruise and just HOPE to pull up next to a ZL1 so that they could just ABUSE that poor stroke.

I made you guys a motivational poster. Seriously, I want to hear more about the little logo's. It appears all this "We don't care" was a total line of BS if they went that far. And before you yell photoshop, watch the video I posted previously and you will see this shot.
