Anyone have some good experiences with any campgrounds on the Michigan Shoreline of Michigan?

Looking to take the Family on a week long camping trip.
I know some campgrounds are really nice compared to others.

Anyone have any real nice places they stayed at in either of these locations. There are so many and hard to tell with out actually being there to check them out.

- Ludington
- Sleaping Bear Dunes Area
- Manistee
- Traverse City area

Any help would be appreciated.
I will have a Popup camper, water access with beach is a must.
Thanks

i been to one in the north side of muskegon long time ago, right on the water...but i consider those state parks zoos now. I ruff it in the U.P. on lake superior now.

Come stay on my property for free. No beach, but we have a pond, which would be good for you.

Go kick Dr Teeth out of his office. It's better than any of those that you listed. He can go stay at his property with the pond.

My fiances grandparents own a campground in the mears/hart area but all thats really up there is Silver Lake Sand Dunes. Not the best place to go for general camping though.

We just picked up a quad @ Sandy Shores campground @ Silver Lake. Holy busy in that area. Not my cup of tea at all.

My family used to camp @ Interlochen State Park all the time. Its a nice park, but its on Duck Lake. Traverse & the Dunes aren't too far away though. We used to rent a ski boat for the lake to tube & ski.

I like the beaches up at Sleeping Bear - alcohol allowed just no glass, and open fires too right on the beach. I usually stay at the Empire City Campground.

I like staying at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago. It's like Camping and it's right on the lake Michigan.

I think Ludington State Park is one of if not the best in the state for a family. There is hiking, a dam, nature center, beach, nice little town, pier/ lighthouse etc. Plus there are some nice sites that are grass so it keeps the kids from tracking a ton of sand into the camper. Facilities are nice and clean.

Another nice one is Tawas State Park. If you have little ones, the bay side of the park is shallow for hundreds of yards (nice sand) so they can run around.

That is the one park I wanted to book but no vacancy as they are totally full. After not being able to go there is honestly the main reason why I started this thread as we still would like to go to Ludington for 3 nights.

Thank You appreciate your insight.

You know another nice campground is Harrisville State Park, it's just north of Tawas. Both Harrisville and Tawas might have some openings. Good luck!
