Anyone ever use watson racing(brownstown) for tuning?

Lonny, I am also curious if the car was running or idling? There is a huge difference. Last I remember, you were asking for help on assembling a long block and then you were talking about doing a "wire tuck". Seems a lot of the work was not done correctly and you admit that, but I am not so sure you are giving the full story on your dealings with Watson..

I was reading this as well. while I see your side, a few things stand out.
He wasn't given a dyno sheet, but was handed an 1850.00 Bill he was expected to pay?
He wasnt made aware of the above and beyond repair aside from the tuning itself.
The Tuner couldn't tell him how much boost it was making, but gave him power numbers?

My major question is, why was any tuning done before a complete inspection was done? typically you inspect, trouble shoot/fix then tune.

I have no doubts Lid can fix your issues

A lot of tuners won't touch a car until they agree with the owner that it is ready for the tune. The real crime here is that they did all that work, never gave him a tune, and it could have all been prevented with a phone call to him explaining the issues.

BLKHAWK, I was confused by some of this as well, but after re-reading Lonny's Post..He was at the shop with the car Several times. This tells me that he knew there were issues and that those issues needed to be fixed. Now 99% of people know that if someone is fixing a problem or working on your car at a shop, There is going to be a charge..and with that comes the Question..."How Much is this going to cost me to fix?" Re-reading it again, Looks Like Mr. Chuck Watson knocked the bill down to $1000 that Lonny said he would pay. So the $1800 bill is of no consequence. I was at Watson today checking on my car and spoke to Chuck of this situation. Chuck said he wouldn't comment on it as it is something that should stay between Mr. Lonny and Watson till it is resolved. Seems like Chuck is or was willing to help Lonny out until he went off the handle and started bashing his company and the work they do.

I do know this, When I've brought a car to someone for work such as tuning, I Made sure it was ready for tuning...Sound like Lonny did not and dumped a basket case car in their lap and worst of all, told the owner a price he would pay and has now backed out of that and by doing so broke his "word".... Now I've grown up and lived my life knowing that my word is Strong, and that if I say I am going to do something,,,,I do it. I still think by reading all of this again, there is more to this story that is not being told. Chuck Watson won't say anything as he says this is between his company and Lonny, which I think is stand up... But Tell us the whole story Lonny instead of just the parts that help your cause of bashing a company that's been here for 35+ years in business.

Exactly.

Bluethunder, I agree there is more to the story, there usually is.

That is all well and good except almost the exact situation has happened to other people (me). If it were a one time occurance it would a different story. I took a car there that their "tuner" built himself and was treated the same way. If you want your car tuned correctly for the price agreed on take it to someone else other than Watson.

almost exactly my story. I wish I would have taken it somewhere else, but I figured the Tuner who built the car should be the best one to tune it. Lesson learned.

I can understand charging him to sort out the car If the car runs badass when he got it back, someones time is valuable no doubt. but the owner feels the need to take it to another tuner, than its performance is probably less than satisfactory.

I can't understand it. If I brought my car to a shop, and they tried to charge me $1800 for work that I didn't authorize, and they didn't do the thing I brought it in for, I would tell them tough shit and take my car home. If they won't give you the car back, you call the cops. Without a written estimate, they don't have a leg to stand on. It is shady as hell is what it is.

I was kinda trying to avoid the price, or if the repairs where approved. This seems to be a gray area, I was making a general statement I suppose.
I do however agree if there isnt a written estimate they dont have a leg to stand on.

The work they do?

I'd say if you go to Lideo's shop, hes not looking at online forms on what different things mean inside the software. We found these copies inside his car after pick up.

if Lonnys car was such a problem car, when lonny offered to come pick it up without being tuned(because a week later it still wasent touched yet), shouldn't Watson of just said ok then if they felt it couldent of been done? or called on the first day and said the car has issues and we need you to figure them out before we can tune?

Lonny would have had zero issues picking the car up and figuring out the issues himself and bringing the car back.

I'm still sort of curious on how it took 7 hours on the dyno?..this is not a Frankenstein set up...its a 4.6 with a blower and all high quality parts.

How they justified that unplugging an alternator on a fuel injected car was going to run everything electronically efficient enough to tune even?

How do you justify yelling at a customer when they want a dyno sheet of the power their car made?

Everything blue thunder said was a derail of the core issues that were the root of the problem and the fault of watson.

Does anybody know bluethunder, or did he just register yesterday and start posting in this thread as if he were one of the watson shop guys?

This is really unbelievable, You could literally change the names and this would be my exact situation with Waston, 4.6l with a supercharger, unplugged alternator, pulled window fuses, scratched up supercharger housing, no dyno sheet, broken wires, car ran worse after it was "tuned" than when I dropped it off...... all this for more than double what was quoted and I was lucky cause "I got a deal". lmao.

The biggest mistake made was when Watson decided to work on the car opposed to having that junk picked up. Everything from that point on was doomed.

I would be a lot more inclined to see things from the car owners perspective if he didn't do a chargeback on his card after agreeing to $1000......and didn't let his wife get involved. Those two douche moves make me question everything he has claimed.

Watson is welcome to come on here and tell "Their side". I would love to hear them defend some of this stuff. Getting stiffed on the bill is exactly what they deserved as far as I can tell. If they had a leg to stand on, they would be defending themselves and suing.

Where exactly did I state that Watson did anything right? Oh yeah, nowhere.

No matter how much of this rests on Watsons shoulders it doesn't change the fact that a junk car was dropped off, he stiffed Watson on an agreed to bill and he lets his wife fight his battles for him. It takes two to tango, and in this case it sounds like both parties were dancing their asses off.

Is it just me or does it sound like sqidd is someone from Watson racing?

How do you know the car is junk? Did you work on it?
How would you like it if that was your car and they tried charging you over a grand more than agreed upon...

I know a few guys from work looking for a tune and I will tell them to drive the further distance to get a better tune and price and avoid this crack pot place..

If you want to stick up for a place make sure you have something to back it up.

red2004 I hope you get your car straightened out and that it makes more power than Watson could ever make..

Are you high? At what point have I defended Watson?

How do you know the car is junk?
It didn't run right and a bunch of stuff needed to be fixed. Junk.

Did you work on it?
No, but I did read what the car owner wrote.

How would you like it if that was your car and they tried charging you over a grand more than agreed upon...
First off I would have felt like a complete dumbass for giving them a car that wasn't ready for the dyno. And then ask why I wasn't called to either approve the work or pick it up.

I know a few guys from work looking for a tune and I will tell them to drive the further distance to get a better tune and price and avoid this crack pot place.
You're a hero. Good for you.

If you want to stick up for a place make sure you have something to back it up.
If you are going to accuse someone of sticking up "for a place" you should probably make sure they are first.

You pretty much are defending Watson by attacking the OP regardless of what you claim to be saying or not. Do you work there? Are you defending your boys there? Either way, the guys at Watson are more than welcome to explain their side on here. But for you to attack the OP for giving his side of the story makes you a troll.

And I don't understand your logic either. What would be the right thing for the OP to do here? Go there and yell? Keep his mouth shut and get ripped off? It seems to me he did the right thing. And if Watson was wronged, then they have a myriad of legal options, but they are all predicated on them having things like an estimate. So they really screwed themselves. All it would have taken was one phone call, and the whole thing would have never happened. Intead they went down a path of getting themselves screwed. They fucked up.
