Anyone ever use watson racing(brownstown) for tuning?

Wow this thread has got out of hand if I got screwed like this guy did I would have done the same thing!! Just got my car tuned by Lidio and I was on the dyno for 4 hrs tryin to figure out a power loss lidio still charged me what he told me it would be even though it took longer and I had the dyno tied up. Lidio is a first class guy and first class tuner I will never go anywhere else period.

What you AGREED to.

And there is the excuse ladies and gents. He got his feeling hurt so he went back on his word. Douch move.

Seriously? If they didn't do what they agreed to, why would he pay what he agreed to?

So if you hire me as a contractor to come to your house to replace the roof, and I replace the gutters instead, are you going to still pay me for the roof?

x3 (or whatever) on this thread getting heated.

As a former technician, I am well aware of the laws and how estimates are written/sold to the customer. As a car owner I can feel your pain. Either way, the shop mishandled the situation on many different levels. For example, if you bring your car in for an alignment and it has a bad ball joint, I align it and send it on its way (shitty job) or I call and sell you (written or oral consent) the parts/labor to install the ball joint then perform the alignment and send it out (the correct way to repair)

I have NEVER seen a shop just up and remove/replace parts on a car without at least contacting the customer. If you agreed (signed) to 400-800 in tune work and they didnt perform the tune work then they cant charge you the 400-800. They cant say they used the 800 to diagnose your car and now you need to foot the next 800 for the tune (unless otherwise stated on the repair order that you signed). Bottom line, you paid for a service that wasnt completed the way it shouldve been and then had unauthorized repairs performed without your consent if Im reading the story right.

That is awesome. Good way to keep customers happy, coming back and referring you for work.

lolol, yea why should i pay for a poorly tuned car?

Is there something wrong with you? First your telling me that im the bad guy by not paying them and now your saying that you never said i should have paid them.......

I never said you were THE bad guy, just one of them. I don't know how to answer the second part of that "sentence" because that's not english, and I don't know what you're talking about.

If you wire up cars like you type it's no wonder your car has issues.

Squid obviously works for Watson or is swinging on their nuts. LMAO

Wow, you guys are an extra kind of special aren't you? Ok, let me make this perfectly clear......

Watson screwed the pooch, they never should have worked on your car.

Clear enough?^^^^^^^

For the record, I don't even Live in Michigan. I do however do business with many in Michigan. I race my car in National series and reply on places like Watson to deliver TOP notch work and Products. I'll say my peace, take it for what you want and then I'll piss off back to the world where people who actually build and drive hotrods and know what they are getting into $ wise and don't run to their wives for help...

Lonny, if this car ran so great before you took it in, why was it pushed into the shop? If this car of yours was running so well it should have be able to be driven in and parked till the tuning took place, correct.....?????

I Still say the whole story is not out there from Lonny. I am going to assume (since I do have an educated mind) that you built a half ass car in your garage with help from friends who don't know much more than what they read online and then when you though this car was ready for tuning, you trailered it in, pushed it into the shop where Watson did screw up----They should have looked at your car and helped you push it back to your trailer. These assumptions on my part could really be cleared up by your posting a picture of this "First class" build and that way we can all see this top notch mechanical work your performed and then dropped off with Watson to tune...But you won't because we all know you built some basket case and though you could drop it in the lap of a well established business and let them deal with it, and when they finally got to the point that no one wanted to deal with it anymore or the fact that you couldn't afford for someone to get it correct, you agree to pay "something you could afford", get your car back and then back out on payment and get Keyboard out to bash someone.... Does this sound about right?

Before I ever start anything, I first think to myself,,,,Can I do this? If I can't then I make sure to PAY for someone who knows what they are doing to deliver me what I wanted...

I have to say, if people really read what Sqidd wrote he makes sense and I agree with most.

You guys must work for Watson too.

I'm not going to take sides here, but working at a shop in the past I've seen a lot over the years. Early on they may have tuned anything that came in the door... After a while they learned that turning down $500-800 for a tune on a car someone assembled themselves saved a lot of headache and negative word of mouth down the road. Being able to inspect and quote a car in person or not tuning a vehicle they didn't build made a ton of sense.

You can think what you want.....I never said I was out to bash anyone or company, if you read what I said in my story about my experience with watson, I said this was just my experience with them. I had a shortblock built by a well known company, and then I assembled (with help) the rest back together, (stock heads with comp270 cams already together), eddy intake, oil pan, instelled timing chain and accesories (timing set to 0), etc....and plugged all the harnesses back together and the car started right up with no issues but a couple fuel fittings that were leaking and were fixed, then had a couple people that are experienced in these builds and there were 0 problems. Have plenty of pictures of the reassembly and have a couple videos of the car running and idling before being taken to watson. Yes I did have a problem getting the car in the trailer from it being such an incline and me not wanting to get into boost getting it up the ramp (I am overprotective of the motor, didnt want to screw nothing up) so I kept stalling it (5speed, new clutch, flywheel, quadrant, firewall adjuster, unadjusted) plus having untuned 60lb injs, maf, it wasnt a tuned car so.....shoot me for stalling it 50 times lol
