Anyone ever rented an RV for a one way trip?

I am thinking about renting an RV to drive to Denver. I have never taken an RV anywhere and don't know if it might be more of a pain than it is worth?

You could ship the car with your stuff. Rent a van and make a family roadtrip out of it. Better mileage than a RV, more room for the dog. And would still allow you to sightsee.

Looks like getting a one way rental is out of the question, There isn't any availability. Now the alternative is to buy one and maybe sell it out there???

Id drive and take the long way what you would save in fuel and rv costs would pay for nice hotels

This is my philosophy. I passed so many rented RVs in the black hills and in Colorado. Fuck that. I'll drive something small and fun, get triple the gas mileage, and spend my fuel and RV rental savings on Pricelined hotels and save hundreds of dollars. Also note passed a shit ton of rented RVs. Meaning I'll get to what I want to see faster and have more time to spend seeing it.

Our concern is space we would be traveling with 5 people (me, wife, 7yr old, 5yr old, 3 month old and Dog). Which is alot in a car for 20 hrs.
Dog also creates issue with certain hotels or them wanting to charge me an extra $75 a night.

Don't tell em, as long as the dog is quiet they'll never know.

75 a night is criminal...how do they justify!

Rent a van travel in comfort sight see. To much work to buy and drive an RV then sell it.

My mom travelled with her dog and had to shop around a little to find pet friendly hotels. Some were only a few bucks more and others a little more. If you shop around you can probably find plenty for a lot less than an extra $75. If the dog stays quiet, sneak it in the side entrance. Otherwise you can find places, just gotta call around and see what you can get. Basically plan out the travel route ahead of time so you have hotels ready to go.

The other alternative is to find any hotel you want, just be near a PetSmart that has the dog hotel. they are open till 9 and open at 630am, so you could drop teh dog off for the night (usually about 20 to 25/night) and get it in the morning. Any type of dog boarding would do. Just need to carry copies of the dog's shots (including a bordetella shot within the last 6 months).

Or just pay to have the dog flown out. If someone else is already there, they can watch the dog until u get there.
