I have 12 years and they are offering 100k. After all the deductions probably end up with 70K.

What are the details of the package? Do you have to be taking classes if you take this package? Do they continue your benefits for a set period of time? Or do they give you 100k and say have a nice life. I am not familiar with the buyouts that the automakers are offering

Take the 70k buyout and go to school, or take the educational buyout. Either way, get a degree in something not related to the auto industry.

EDOPP Educational opportunity Program

UAW Ford workers who select this option will receive up to $15,000 of tuition a year for up to four year of paid college or vocational school and an annual stipend worth 50% of wages(minus COLA). Health insurance and other benefits continue during this four year period, but pension credits do not accure. Participants must enroll in school full-time(at least 12 credit hours per semester) and must maintain a "C" average to remain eligible.

At the end of four years, workers who select this option will terminate their employment at Ford.

So pretty much - you get tuition for 4 years, half of your average annual income, plus benefits..... ???

If you are going to be motivated enough to go to school and can find something worth it for 4 years I say go for it sicne the auto industry is retarded, or just work for Toyota

Take it

If I worked for the auto industry and someone offered me 100k to quit TAKE IT. Either go to school, or take the money and start somethin up, or just take the chance to move somewhere if you want...

hmm $100,000.00 buy out or $60,000.00 in education?

Being someone with 4 degrees, I say take the money and RUN! That is after you injure yourself at work and collect workers comp for a while, then accept the buyout. JK.

Take it. I mean how many of us that work or have worked at Ford really think they will be around as there own company in four years.

Take the buyout and start up some big butted woman sex page and make millions!!!!:dontknow:  you know that is where your head is at anyhow!!!

If you like the job and the security, I would stay. You'll probably never find a job with better benefits. If you don't like it, then take the education buyout and go into something you want to do for the rest of your working life.

Im thinking 100k buyout is gonna be their best offer, so Id get in while the gettin is good.

you gotta do what you like, right? Is there a big market for this?

With how shaky this auto industry is i think i would tkae the buy out. After a while if this continues they might be laying people off and not offering anything
