Anyone doing the Michigan Mile?

I was gonna say the opposite. It's not worth having your life wrecked and having people out for your head all over the internet and news for $20k. It's pretty easy to make $20k in the long run, but I'd say chances of reputation recovery after this are near nil whether or not any refunds are issued.

I inquired with the air show people about trying to salvage the event. It would be nice to try and figure out how many people were put out and I could probably just dig up sponsors (which I would be in on) to cover their lost fees. They said several people had inquired similarly already and they were inundated with calls regarding the canceled event, so we'll see what happens.

My assumption is that the original promoter is not actionable and litigation is just going to result in lawyers getting paid.

No way he had anywhere near 150 cars registered.
$20K. Yeah right - his broke ass couldn't pay for last year's event.

One friend paid $440 to run both days for one car, and myself and two friends paid $1500 to bring a few different cars. So that's 3 people, $1,940. Your assumptions of what he cleared are low.

I don't care about the money so much as the principle of some bag of shit netting a huge take simply because he was a total fraud. "Better call Saul!" - as they say. Some of these people are going to roll over and just take it, but a lot of us are filing claims against him. The next few years of his life are going to be absolute hell.

One more thing I almost forgot. I hear a lot of chatter about taking this up with paypal - don't bother. They have a 45 day policy, and if you paid months ago like us, they can't help you. The most I have heard of them doing is crediting loyal customers with no complaints in their history $100. This doesn't do a thing for me since this money comes from Paypal and not Mr. Bag of dicks. So don't waste your time pursuing this with them.

Saw on Facebook somone found public record of him filing for bankruptcy last year

This is a spot for even the attorney general at this point.

Alex has worked for a number of companies in the area...

This is disgusting. I just ran into him on Woodward not long ago as well [about a month].

I would contact the attorney general for some assistance, and this is pure fraud as funds were collected after any sort of bankruptcy.

What a jackass.

The fact that he caused the issues with the event itself and did not pay any bills from the last run is on him, and pretty much leaves his no refund bullshit as null and void because he caused it!

I couldn't agree more Matt, what a low life. I just heard of this recently. I've sent this link to some "other" resources as well, hopefully they will publish something.

I rarely come on here, and just heard of this earlier this week. I can't believe he went this low.
