Anyone doing the Michigan Mile?

And after seeing the Underground Lambo that crashed there and the Carrera GT that Paul Walker was in last week, I'm ok topping out at 140 at road courses. The shit hits the fan very quickly at those speeds.
I feel the same way. I just don't feel the need to go faster than that.
140-150 is a piece of cake on a road course or pretty much any freeway.

Mile racing is definitely more "been there done that" than other forms of racing. Honestly, I've considered taking the TT system off the GT because outside of mile racing there's really not a whole lot of point to reaching "jail" on the speedo that fast anymore.

I don't think mile racing is very dangerous unless you're in an overpowered and aerodynamically unstable bathtub or you have a tuner that will put any guy with a big enough checkbook in a 250+ mph car that requires a cage and competence with a chute. Having done 200+ at the mile a number of times, it's more like "ok, now what?" Still fun though.

Credits to entrants for a future event was mentioned. Usually organizers can't refund if a decent chunk of money was already spent. I'd be willing to bet the organizer already ate a bunch of money on prepays, cancellation fees, non-refundable deposits. This kinda sucks for everybody and I hope there's something in the future. Maybe I'll have a car ready next time.

The problem now is the organizer is making people feel he isnt going to even attempt to do a different event. Dude took down the facebook page and is apparently becoming increasingly difficult to contact with questions and concerns. Some guys have even contacted the air show directly to get their side of what happened.

Not sure how many preregistered but at 200 bucks a head it can be a big chunk of change.

This event will not be rescheduled and Alex Conley is not giving anyone a refund. I don't know what money he could have already spent because I am sure he was refunded by the airfield since they could not coordinate this event with the Balloon Festival that was also going on the same weekend. They made the two shows work together last year so I don't get why they couldn't do it this year.

Anyway, I am disappointed as I was really looking forward to this event and pissed I am being scammed out of $200. I started a facebook page to try to help everyone get their money back. Please like the page and comment if you were able to get your money back.

I don't know what "capital investments" he made. I am sure the airshow refunded him. I am disappointed that this event couldn't work because I was really looking forward to it and now I am pissed Alex it not giving anyone a refund.

I start a facebook page for everyone to try to work together to get their money back. A lot of good info has already been posted from people calling the air field and balloon show coordinator. Here is the link:

The truth of what happened here will make most people sick to their stomach. Wait for a few things to happen, then we can post up the facts. You guys won't believe how this shit went down. For those of you that paid, start pursuing your refunds through credit card disputes or any other way you can. Paypal is of no help here, do not let the organizer tell you to take it up with them.

Dude has now deleted his own facebook as well as the Michigan Mile page....

Which side cancelled the event?

I guess Conley says they had "irreconcilable differences" in how the event needed to go with the air show they were pairing with. So he canceled the event to "pursue other options and find another venue" ----

If the organizer was genuine about finding another venue why would they begin to eliminate their tracks and remove all ways for parties to communicate with him?

Did this shindig strictly take place because of the air show or is the airport available for private use otherwise?

I try to have faith in humanity, but the outward appearance is not looking good.

"Hi xxxx,

I truly feel terrible that we had to end the Michigan Mile event this year. However, you are so not getting the truth from Alex. In fact, I can send you an email from Alex that clearly states that he does not care if we advertise for the Michigan Mile because it does not bring him one driver. He clearly states that we are two completely different events. Alex has not and did not advertise a thing for the Battle Creek Field of Flight in any Magazines, radio, TV, direct mailings, etc. Even his Michigan Mile website did not promote the Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show and Balloon Festival. We had a link on our site to his but he never put anything on his site for us.

Although there are several reasons for why we cancelled the Michigan Mile this year, one of the reasons is that Alex still has not paid us the sponsorship fee from the 2013 event! And, mind you, it is only $4,500.00. I do not know what he charged the companies that came to the event last year or how much he received, but we did not receive a dime. He had over six (6) displays. For the size area that these sponsors or vendors used, we would have charged them $5,000.00 each. Again we received no money what so ever.

The Battle Creek Field of Flight organization entered into a verbal agreement with Alex for 2014. He clearly understood that we will continue to plan and prepare for the Michigan Mile, however, the event will not happen if the $4,500.00 past due is not paid and once we know how many sponsors/vendors he will have we will have to reach a mutual fee compensation. After months of him promising he would send us what he owes us and of course never did, we knew then that he had no intensions of paying us.

I do not understand how an organization can take money from individuals and make promises that he truly never intended to keep to you as a driver or myself as the Executive Director.

Wow. What a douchebag. Sounds like he runs the same business model as the guy that was ripping off people on the mortgages.

I'm a fellow C6Z owner and prepaid for the event in late March. I responded to Alex's "no refund" email and told him I would seek action with PayPal. I did not receive a direct response, only the 2 mass emails that I'm sure you all received outlining paypals dispute process. I am happy to provide any information that will aid in the lawsuit and us recovering our money.

PS, I am doing the Ohio Mile this weekend instead. More stringent safety requirement, but a much more reputable, well organized event.
