However, if my plant and Fairfax are forced to close down, GM will step in and end the strike because we are the biggest selling plants right now and they cannot afford to have us down.
End the strike? Watch how fast they pull the tools and let someone else get paid to make the parts. There is an entire group in purchasing and all they do is pull tools all day long. GM owns every single tool that makes their parts. They could have Orion running in a week if they wanted to. Full axles is a little tougher. The only issue there is the logistics of shipping them from Mexico. AA is making truck axles RIGHT NOW in Mexico.
The thing the UAW doesn't get, is that they may never go back to work at AA. I don't think this has ever even crossed their minds, either. They need to wake up. GM is not going to bail them out, like some people think.

They do not supply us with axles, as ours are made in Canada. They make a certain component, I'm not entirely sure what it is admittedly, for our Malibu. The Malibu and G6 right now are what GM has to hang its hat on. The sales of both of these cars are leading the company. Geoff, I am sorry but I find your scenario absolutely unrealistic.
So a part that you don't know is made by American Axle, it's the most important vehicle at GM, and you still don't think they'll just pull the tools and make it somewhere else? You need to lay off the UAW Kool-Aid.

Haha, I work third (1130pm-800am). Been off since yesterday morning. Go back to work sunday night. I've been up all day and night so I can get my body adjusted to the hours.

It's not the UAW Kool-Aid, it's called realism. I guarantee that GM would not just 'pull the tools' and make it somewhere else, we are not talking about Playskool toys here. We are talking about ripping out machinery and transplanting it somewhere else, in which the cost and waste of time would be just too damned excessive. That is what is unrealistic about your point.
GM would not end the strike per say, but they would certainly influence the discussions and move shit along. They can do that because they have that power.
