American Axle strike....

The rank and file workers need to open their eyes and look at the big picture. The rank and file workers are part of the problem, they keep pushing the union leaders to be hard asses, and electing the ones that promise them the most, regardless of the consequences.

Raj, our eyes are open, at least mine and the people I associate with. At the place I work at, the ballot box is always stuffed, so we don't really have a say anyhow. I'm here to work, and the workers stick together like glue. Work is my main concern, and I separate it from the politics up front except I'm on the veterans committee, which I don't see a problem with, but that's different.

Dan- You're saying the ballot box is stuffed, and the workers don't have a say in it anyhow?? Are you serious??

umm....was that post supposed to DEFEND the union??

No, it's honesty. I'm talking from a workers standpoint, you know? I consider the true union those that I work with. We work and stick together, that is what a union should be like and that is what I am referring to when I make my points.

At least where I work, the ballot box is stuffed and the UAW staff at my plant is very weak. However, they did help me get this blessing of a job.

Me making assclown posts? You're the one that said I was off topic. :flipa: This thread is about unions, and the guy not getting his truck because AA is on strike.

I have ZERO sympathy for the union. ZERO.

I've been to plenty of big 3 plants. I've seen exactly what goes on. Worthless, lazy, good for nothing, company moochin pieces of SHIT sit there and collect money because they are on some restriction. While someone like YOU has to bust thier ass to make up for them.

Yes, union workers make FAAAAAAAR too much money. Really? like $18 bucks a hours to bolt parts on a car? Give me a break. That's a $8/hour job at best.

The unions are going to come crashing down, they're already starting to with the AA situation. I for one am loving it. There was a day in this country where unions were needed. But not anymore.

Working for an at will employer is FTW. Bust your ass, do good work, go to college, and you get a head.

Well said. +1

How about this...we all stop arguing and fussing, and break out the beers and mod some cars. :)

Whaddya say?

AA isnt asking for a Delphi, Dana like contract. It wants ALLl of its emplyee's to take a 50% pay cut, immediately.

Perhaps if the union would allow them to "Right Size" their workforce large pay cuts for the remaining workers wouldn't be necessary.

On a human level I feel for the people who are having the rug pulled out from underneath them.

It's better for the union to allow the company to right size and to adjust their pay scales (modestly) than to kill the kill the goose who laid the golden egg.

Youre absolutely correct, but that is not what AA is asking for.

I went down and walked the line with them and from what they are saying is they want more like a 70% wage cut. That would hurt anyone union or non union. You can't alway go by what the media says. Yes they are making parts in mexico to get some of the plants up and running.

I rest my case.

How is it off topic? This thread is about a strike, and the people striking.

Actually, the thread was "am I gonna get hosed on my truck I just ordered?", but DAMN! This was not intended to start a Motownmuscle civil war.

This would be off topic... let's go ride bikes! :gr_jest:

Personally I believe every job should be commission. You get paid by what your worth. I hate hearing union people bitch about thier way of living....."Were just struggling to get by" well boo fuckin hoo who's fault is that??? Your's and your's alone pale...If your struggling to get by then either find another job or balance your budget better. I'm a single income houshold and I support my family just fine. Why?? because I don't over extend my spending and I save my money when possible. That way when my sales are slow or I gat laid off I still don't struggle...

I make a living just fine without anyone telling me what to get paid. I get paid for what I sell. The key word is I....I control what I make nobody else controls it for me....

murph

I bet they're smokers too :gr_jest:

I don't smoke, and I don't have i net @ work.

Dead on!!! +1

At least 1 other person gets it

Look, I am not union bashing. I am just putting out the facts. This is an example of why the union is killing that auto business in the US. Every competing supplier who makes axles - Dana and Visteon specifically - have a contract that has lowered ALL the wages. How is American Axle supposed to be competetive against those two companies? In the next four years, they are going to lose all the business they have at those plants that are on strike. You guys think Dana won't be bidding lower and getting the business? Wake up! They only way to keep those jobs at all, is to be competetive with labor.
-Geoff

Visteon doesn't make axles.

I've heard they are taking machines down at AAM and shipping them to Mexico. Sorry UAW guys, but this isn't going to end well for them.

You still sell cars right? I'd look for a new line of work if i were you.

Ya, we are suffereing right now. You know why?

BECAUSE AA UAW WORKERS ARE ON STRIKE, AND ITS EFFECTING PLANTS WE SHIP TO!

All because these assholes won't take the proper wage they should be getting paid, to put a nut on the end of a bolt. :nopity:

LMAO are you that fucking stupid? !

dont hate the companies here that are moving to nonunion labor, hate the japanese companies that started up without uaw labor and wont let us compete on a level playing field. until the uaw labor is completely gone, we will never seea fair playing ground. Detroit has the best automotive engineering in the world and we'd love to have all the plants closeby, but unfortunately, we are not a right to work state, and until that happens and the companies are competitive, it wont happen. people are getting by just fine down south on non union labor shops, why cant they up here?

You think right to work states are good? Go ahead and move then. You ever look at any of the FACTS about right to work states? PROB. NOT judging by your ignorant comments!

 I cannot agree more

Why, because you read it in the paper, saw some BS on the news, or because you read what some fatass typed?

AA isnt asking for a Delphi, Dana like contract. It wants all of its emplyee's to take a 50% pay cut, immediately. Whether you love, hate, or tolerate the UAW, none of you can tell me that you would accept your boss insisting on a 50% paycut, no matter what the job.

bold-exactly!

I'm sorry, but the truth of the matter is that if some asshole is gonna just come in one day and say 'Your wage is getting cut in half or more, while I'm increasing mine like all hell!!!!!!!!!' you can kiss my hairy, smelly, pimply ass. These people are standing up for what's right. It's not greed....it's preserving a way of life.

exactly

lmao

If I was ever in that situation, I'd simply leave and go work somewhere else :)

I wouldn't stomp around like a child and demand more money whether or not the company could afford it!

Where you gonna get a job at around here? And good luck selling your house?

"The truth cannot be delivered with novocaine" -Ann Coulter.

Would you like to argue the facts then?

Lets start with this one:

Why would you guys have to pay to visit something your union dues paid for?!

Black Lake, lmfao that's long gone dumbass

lmao

Like I said, you think it's bad around here now, WE ain't seen nothing yet!

So what you're saying is... you're a pro-union guy.

Way to go bashing people and calling them names without ever doing so much as to form a coherent argument to support your views. You look like the dumbass now.

Wow, great rebuttal "TRIPLEWHITE03GT". Very strongly worded, and well written. You really are a master of the english language. I can see now why your union rep has to do all of your thinking for you!

All you need to remember is: Righty tighty, lefty loosy.

I've yet to hear a valid argument against right to work states. I wouldn't mind living in one.

The industry I was working in crashed before and I lost the job I'd had for 8 years. The end of 2001. It sucked. Had to drive 110 miles a day in terrible traffic (1.5 hours to work, 2 hours home). Also took a big pay cut. That sucked. I still kept the bills paid though, and next time it happens, I'll once again do what ever I have to do. That's the real world. That's how it works.

The UAW world is a wonderland which can not last. I wish it could. I don't want to take anything away from anyone. Hell I wish the companies could pay you guys even MORE and you could help keep the economy afloat even more. The problem is; it's not logical, and it can't work. I'm amazed that pro UAW people can't see that.

Like I said, you think it's bad around here now, WE ain't seen nothing yet!

If you think the union has no part of the blame for our current shitty economy, you're very much mistaken. I do blame big 3 leadership as well, but the union was and is a huge part of the problem.
