A rant about Belle Tire, Royal Oak

I think some people are best to just stay away from Belle Tires and Discount Tires. They are too big and just want to go after big money.

Find a private owned store that will just repair what you need and have you on your way.

I actually tried that... I called 5 private joints around and they all said... well you could drop it off and I could have it back to you MAYBE by tomorrow. I needed it done... I had no brakes

Because we could have contacted one of the three people that work for Belle Tire here. Maybe they could have gotten the other side of the story. If this was indeed true, they could have had something done.

Maybe this wouldn't happen in the future, but I guess that's not a good idea right?

That is where I was coming from with my comment above, I would have contacted them first to get some real help (if that is possible)

But there is nothing to be done! It is too late! If someone tries to scam you, no amount of after the fact refunds or whatever will change the fact that they tried to scam him. He just let other people know what happened to him there, and it's up to the rest of us to decide how, if at all, this affects us when deciding who to give our business.

im sure the guy doesnt carry his lap top around with him... he said that it happened while he was out and he took his car to get checked out... how could he get in contact with someone on here... if he had a phone number to someone he thought could get him a better price im sure he would have called... we all would... i dont see any reason to give him a hard time

Agreed.

Maybe the mods can post a contact section on the site of their cell, office, etc. for members to use in case there is an issue with a supporting vendor. (In this case it wasn't) Since they are elected officials, they should be accessible to the members outside of the website.

I had a pretty horrible experience with the Belle Tire in Royal Oak. About 2 years ago I went there to get two new front tires for my dually. The only reason I went there was because my friend was running the front counter. Anyway, they install the new tires and I leave. I don't get like a mile down the road and the truck is all over the place. Take a look at the front end and all of the lug nuts were coming off. The douchebags only put them on by hand tight. I called up Belle Tire about the situation and they wanted me to drive the truck back to them. I refused and made them come to me. They didn't even know what to say. Never even put an air gun to it. The manager wouldn't do anything for me because of their stupidity and even said that I was already getting a deal because I was saving $10 per tire. I wasn't looking for anything free but man up to your ASE certified mechanics that couldn't even bolt on a set of tires properly. I ended up filing a complaint with their corporate office where they sent me a $25 gift card. I mailed it back to them chopped in missed and said "No thank you. Hire some new mechanics."

that is bullshit........and tire techs arent ASE anything.

Oh I am not saying just you....I was talking about people in general...but in your case with an emergency...gotta do what ya gotta do.

My shop was a few doors down and it was very hard to compete with them...But I had quite a few customers with horror stories from that shop.
According to there manager at the time, they are one of the busiest BT stores around...averging $30,000 a week.....You don't make that kind of money just selling brake lines if you know what i mean.:deal:

There is this contact info. in the thread of vendors. COntact info is on there.

i will never go to belle tire unless somebody i know is writing up my work order... i bought a set of tires last year from the one at 14 and john r so im not hating on all belle tires but the one in allen park did the same thing to a guy i worked with... they wrote a qoute for over 9 hundred dollars for new tie rod ends, ball joints and a couple other small things while they had it apart... i told him it was an outrageous price since he had a friend that would do the work for 150 plus parts... i called reiko to get a price on parts and he came up just over a hundred... thats $650 saved... id go anywhere but belle tire for service...

common from the AP store, I have checked out a large number of cars that they wrote an estimate for upper/lower BJs, inner/outer tie rods, and there was nothing wrong, all they went in for was a couple tires

from the sounds of it belle tire is a rip off unless you know the guy at the counter...

Not really. I dealt with the Belle Tire on Gratiot South of 14 mile for years before I heard of this site. Never had any issues, they even saved me money on two visits

I don't quite think the idea of doing something is in an effort to help Patrick so much as it is in an effort to protect future people.
The guys on this site who are sponsors through Belle Tire have had contact with the corporate office in order to obtain their sponsorship and would probably prefer to send info like this up the chain in order to stop frivolous estimates rather than have a thread maintained on page one that bashes Belle Tire.

From a personal perspective, someone made a rant about the company I consult for probably 6 or 8 months ago and many of our members jumped on the bandwagon of deciding how terrible the company was. I immediately took action to remedy the situation but really wanted that thread to disappear as it was adverse to my personal employment being that I'm a member here and frequently visited this site from my work computers.

The same goes for the Belle Tire employees. You've seen the thread started about people messing with other people's jobs. This is the exact kind of thread that could threaten the jobs of our sponsors... and more than anything, I don't think anyone here wishes to have their jobs put at risk over this site.

I don't think the negative opinions based on this thread were done in an effort to shield others from a potential problem or protect a sponsor. Right now, there is a need to protect our members from job issues, and the content of this thread didn't put anyone further ahead by reading it. I feel that had the issue been handled privately and our Belle Tire employees contacted, a much better solution - such as the asshat that works there getting fried - could have come.

regardless of who works where if somebody is unhappy with service they should be able to complain on the forum just like they should be able to praise the company if they are happy

i hate that store, never will go back, the guy got me a deal on new tires for my camaro, i would of payed the extra 50 bucks i saved and went to discount...

i pull my car up dead nuts on time we discussed on the phone, i go in the horrid waiting room and sit for like 45 mins i figure shit my car has to be done right, nope still sitting in the parking lot! i ask the guy what time i can expect my car to be done he said 25 mins, i go wait for another 30 mins ask what the status is, not done another 45 min was there for almost 3 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i demanded he take more money off my tires or i will never show up again and i will contact corporate, 3 hours for a set appointment for 4 tires?!?!?!? he did make it right though, i walked out saving 200 dollars but honestly 4 tires, should not take 3 hours in any case. i spoke to a few other people and they had horrible experieces there one guy in the wiating room was there for 1.5 hours for tire rotation and check up.... they had to have real monkeys working back there.
