94 Mustang Project

Small update: ozite carpet came saturday and today was the first time I've actually welded something together. Teaching yourself welding really isnt that easy lol. I'm getting better though. Think maybe wed I'll try to weld in the plate I made thankfully it will be underneath the carpet lol!

Ugly as shit but I couldn't break it apart with a hammer.

i have alot of "stuff" i need welded..... ;)

I'm getting better should be able to weld it together now if you want it to look pretty going to take a bit more time ;)

I'm getting better though was just out in the garage and this was my latest weld.

Going to actually weld something on the car hopefully tomorrow when I get home from work.

The midplate brackets welded to the frame rail or you talking about something else?
Swing by sunday or something hopefully going to be installing my carpet!

Plate is welded in, I smoothed out the welds a bit with a grinder and painted it. I didn't do to bad for working the foot pedal with my knee. Really not sure how some guys weld inside a car I have a hard enough time on a bench. I'm just glad carpet is going over it lol.

Also learned to tack a few spots when welding a plate like that the heat caused it to warp a bit up in one corner I had to hold it down and tack it before I could continue.

Pic i took before I ground the welds down a bit and painted it flat black. Hopefully tomorrow I'll start putting the interior back together and get the carpet in.

Halfway done ran out of glue =p pics later when i get home. Just have the back seat area to do then I can start putting the interior back in it.

2 quick pics. It was hard to get a decent photo no sunlight combined with black carpet and a cell phone. So far I think it's coming out halfway decent.

Got it done upto the rear seat delete I'll get the rest during the week before work and hopefully get all the interior pieces back in it.

Carpet is done :) was a pain going around the roll cage did the best I could you can see the seams if you look close but I think it looks halfway decent for my first time doing it. Plus its a race car not a show car would of just left it all metal but it looks horrible like that.

Hard to get a good picture of it. It is to dark in my garage and no flash on my cell phone.

I cut the 2 plastic moldings to fit around the new rear seat delete.

They are installed already they where 100x easier going in then taking them out. Pain in the ass getting them around the roll cage.
Should have the interior 100% back together tomorrow. Then I just need to do the package tray but waiting until I pull the back window to do that I think it will be much easier without the window in.

Started making the aluminum panels to fill in the holes in the dash. Glove box area is done but I need to mount it still, I need some longer rivets. Going to take the other piece into work and put the right bends in it so it fits better. The last area I need to wait until I get my new steering column. I'm thinking about covering it with some carbon fiber looking stickers. Glove box one I need to try to find some paint that matches the vinyl on the dashboard..

Ok so I sold my stock decklid and ordered a VFN fiberglass one today. Should lose a good #40 pounds with the swap.

Also finished up one of the panels for the dashboard. It came out pretty nice getting all the little air bubbles out sucked. Eventually I resorted to making a pin hole in some of the small ones and pushing the air out that way. Really comes in handy having a nice sheet metal break at work ;)

here is the aluminum panel after I finished bending and trimming it.

Here I covered it in some vinyl 3d Carbon fiber Sticker I got from ebay. I actually cut a decent amount of carbon fiber at work and I think it looks pretty realistic. I like that it has some texture to it. This was before i used a pin and got the small air bubble out.

Here it is mounted in the dash. Still need to find a few plastic push pin type things for the glove box cover pop rivets wont stick into the vinyl :( Going to try to finish that up this weekend. A long with getting the trans in so I can make up the Cross member for it. Measure for my drive shaft so i can pull the motor out finally and start filling in holes in the engine bay:D

well The transmission using the stock mount is a no go =p they aren't even close Trans pan even hits the crossmember a bit and its a good 1.5 inches off the mount. I'll order a mount from skinny kid race cars on monday and hopefully have the trans in next weekend. Then i just need to measure for my drive shaft and I can pull the block and start filling engine bay holes.

(after doing some research on the driveshaft I think I'll wait till the car is closer to being finished to worry about it. I need to have it closer to its real weight to see how it sits on the suspension. )

Skinny kid trans mount came in today. Going to try to get out in the garage before work and do a little mockup work. Maybe see if I can get the trans mounted and start welding this together.

Whats an update without pics so I took a quick pic. Instead of running a bigger spacer i cut about 1/8" off the front of the caliper bracket still plenty of meat left but should give me the clearance I need on the cap5's. It is nice working in a machine shop.
