'84 Capri LS1 project

thanks, i'll be doing that, will post pics. was going to dry sump it anyway.

yeah i trolled these forums for all the information i could get on the history of the car before buying it. since the community seemed to see the people at CARS as stand up guys - thought it'd be a safe buy.

yeah, the drivetrain was taken out of the pinks car by mikefastss and put into this car. he just dropped the entire k-member and put it in this one. with the mounts they made, the starter, and all the rust, i'm sure he didn't see it.

Seems like a short list of people who would have had that motor out of there.
I would not think it would have survived all the passes at the Pinks event with that JB Weld. No way...

Either way...nobody is going to fess up to it...but WTF

Sorry man, that is BS!

Didn't the pinks Mustang blow up on the dyno a couple of times before the actual race?? I thought I remember reading that? Didn't it shit a rod or a piston or something? That seems like the most logical explanation for the JB weld.

I sure hope Sean didn't do that and then send Duke down the track without telling him about it??

Did you SEE that car when it was ready for pinks? If Duke was brave enough to drive that thing on nitrous, I doubt he cared about the JB Welded block.

already asked him, he said it wasn't there or he didn't see it. asked 86 notch too and he said he didn't know about it either :P

I can't believe no one knows about this. It should of been disclosed once they knew the car was to be raffled off. :shake:

I figured if it held together at the launch it would make it down the track. In reality, the last engine that was in it ran pretty damn well. I was hot lapping it at the 1320X race until I ran out of bottle. I was just glad I didn't fall through the floor whenever I climbed in and out of the car!

But anyway, how the Capri coming along?

Woah wait a second, I know for sure that JB weld wasn't on the engine when Motown Muscle owned it. Whoever put that JB weld thee did that after MM raffled the car off.

The last engine block used in the Pink's car was not cracked or hurt. It was run as a stock short block for a few run before we realized it was so worn out that the nitrous was blowing by the rings. After we found that problem we tore it down, had it machined, and put the Mahle pistons in it. Nothing bad ever happened to that engine the whole time I drove it.

I know there wasn't any JB weld on that block when I ran it.

It sure wasn't me,even though Kim and I actually paid for the winning ticket, then got screwed even though we had a verbal agreement that if his ticket was pulled we would get the car.

BTW has anyone seen that upstanding member of Motown? Ohhh that's right he hasn't been here since that all went down. I wonder if he JB Welded the block?

Noooo, I'm not bitter. :)
