64 1/2 mustang need help please read

Not to be an asshole but you will be alot better $$$$ wise to buy one done you will have 3 times what that car is worth by the time you are done, that car is a basket case
 
yea it is rough what can I say. been sand blasting the front end frame/engine compartment. its going good have primer on it couple pieces of metal need to be welded in and going to be welding floor pans in shortly lots of work but it will come together.As soon as I sell my other house that is free and clear im going to take 10,000 and put it into the car im sure my dad would like that. seeing as how he used to own a 64 1/2 and loved cars plus my son loves going in the garage working on it. It has been my only relief from everything going on in my life and threw my head

with as much rust as that car has, i'm sorry to say you could find a more solid car and start off with a better base and be better off in the long run quality and $ wise
 
yea probably right my sister offered me her 1965 but numbers dont match and everything has been covered up already and didnt know if I should do it or not so thats why im sand blasting away. plus im broke now and dont have money to buy a better starter im crazy what can i say

First off, I am sorry about your dad. This may be quite a project to take on so soon after his death. If you are not up to it, nothing wrong with leaving it in the garage until you are ready.

your quote above makes this project worth while, it isn't always about how much $$ you will put in and how much it is worth in the end. If you and your son will love the process, go for it :cool:

There is a long road ahead, as long as you take your time and learn as much as you can before pouring money into each aspect of it you and your son will have a great time and have a nice ride to enjoy together in remembrance of your father :cheers:
 
At this point in your project you have a lot more labor to do before you start spending money. Don't be afraid to screw up a couple times, it's a learning curve and you can re-do it and spend more time with your son. Sounds like an excellent way to bond with your family and pay homage to your father.

A big plus is that you have the one of the best car to do a restoration on. You can pretty much build a whole car from the ground up with all the restoration parts that are on the market now.

thank you all. this is the one thing that actually free's my mind of everything its been almost 4 weeks since I found my father passed away in his house and still depressed and this car is my only relief as of now been going to town on it and my son wont leave me alone about working on it. I know it will be a learning curve I have only welded 1 bead before and it was ugly but hopefully I will catch on and im sure one day it will see the road but again thanks to you all to give opinions and advice
 
well decent progress going but now I have to cut the floor pan out again and reinstall didnt have it in the perfect spot lol go figure learning process for me. Atleast I will learn on this side then the driver side should be a breeze
 
Hey its a project. Just do what you can as you can. I have seen people turn cars that were in alot worst shape then that into some Beautiful Machines... Just Keep On Going...
