MAF issue?????
I dont know if it is. Should I try to clean my MAF? I thought it was a tune because it idles rough at start up for about 2 minutes and after that it runs fine for about 15 minutes until it gets hot and then I hear the popping noise.
Is it really nasty inside? Stock or aftermarket MAF? Has any work been done to the car which may have caused this problem?
OMFG! I just took my car to the wash and decreased the engine compartment. After washing it I noticed that every time I gave the car gas it would hesitate and then it would go. After I got home I cleaned the MAF sensor. Now every time I start my car it stalls out. WTF did I do?
What did you clean it with?
Its an older car, you might have got some wires wet, maybe wiggled a connection lose with water pressure. I don't think you are supposed to use regular degreaser on a MAF. I may be wrong with that though.
You should probably also remove the distributor cap and blow out the inside of the distributor too...If its got old/er plug wires, they're probably saturated with water.
Cleaning the MAF with a q-tip probably did more harm then good as you've probably got some "strays" on it. They sell a MAF cleaner at murrays type store, I've got some...
Where are you located?
I think I might have a vacuum leak. If I cant find it Ill give ya a ring.If u don't figure it out....lemme know i can stop by later.
I cleaned the entire engine with degreaser. I took out the MAF and cleaned it with carb cleaned and a q-tip. Ill have to check all the wires in the morning.
this is not good. You may have cracked the glass bead on the wire. Can you borrow a MAF to test with ?
I dont have one. When I took out the MAF it has 2 wires. One looked like it was kind of bent. Will that affect anything?
