Actually, I've seen a few fit them with stock spring location... They beat the fender wells in a ridiculous amount (might as well mini tub it) and roll the lips. Not how I would do it, but it can be done. It doesn't seem to look right to me either. The wheel just tends to stick out too far.
it will either rub badly or stick out of the wheel well. depending on how much your car squats the tire will hit the quaterpanel, and even trying to tuck them in you have to completely buckle in the inner whell tub area behind the spring
