302 valve cover help

I recently bought a new set of heads and 1.72 roller rockers. Obviously now my stock valve covers wont fit, but honestly i really hoped they wouldn't so i could justify buying a set of fabricated covers. Here is my problem the stock ones had a breather hole on one side and a oil fill hole on the other. Should i order the new ones the same way or should i order them with no holes because it looks really clean not to have any holes in the covers? if i do then how do i fill oil? I am guessing i would need to pop a valve cover off which is fine. Any input would be appreciated.

I think you can use your stock covers, you just need to get creative. I took a grinder to 2 spots on the inside where the rockers barley touched, then used 2 cork gaskets glued together to make them tall enough.

You can also take the new covers and have the hole welded up and have a new fill spout welded in. Thats what I did.

you need breathers in your valve covers otherwise you'll have leaks.

you could do what 347 says above.

Or (what i did) when you buy your valve covers with no holes, you could place the holes where you would like to hide them the best you can and run a tube from it to a catch can with a breather. when it comes time to fill up with oil...i take one of my hoses off, attach this funnel with the same tube size as the ones on my valve covers and fill up through that same port. it takes time for the oil to go in, but it gets the job done with no mess and no valve cover removal every oil change.

I use the tall Ford Racing "BOSS" covers with my 1.6s and have tons of room.

I could've kept the stock "COBRA" finned covers and notched the baffle but I opted or the taller style. Or you can mod the ones that you already have

Make sure your valve covers clear your intake, if your efi. Otherwise you may need a spacer for it.

Get some valve covers off a 93... No ribbing in those

I had 2 cork valve cover gaskets glued together. Then i had the small 3/8 spacer on the intake with 1 thin gasket under and 2 glues together on the upper side. The intake elboe cleared my valve cover by an 1/8 inch and the intake barely rubbed the hood haha.

Im running CraneCam 1.7 roller rockers with Trickflow stage 1 cam..I'll post a pic of inside the valve cover tomorrow night if you want?

I am all for buying fabricated covers. I just just wanted to keep the holes to a minimum. So I guess really the only hole in my stock covers is the oil fill on The passenger side. On the stem of that fill neck is a breather port. I am wondering if one 10 an bung welded on cover near the back would be enough. Like a member said I could make a 10 an hose funnel to fill oil but then use that fitting to run a oil separator. Just looks real clean without anything. But one 10 an line near the back won't be bad. Thanks guys for all the help
