2016 Lions thread........discuss or discust?

Is Cam Newton even starting tonight? They didn't start him last week did they? Or was that two weeks ago?

I don't like him either. I'm also cheering for comedy. The Lions missing the playoffs will be some of the best comedy of the year. So, go Washington, for the LULZ.

wow mike you found the needle in the haystack!
It only took you 15 weeks and 250 games later to prove me wrong with 3 teams?
Whats with the name calling? Just because I dont have Stuffords balls in my mouth, I'm a moron?

I called the guy who said that the NFL's leader in fourth quarter comebacks can't lead the team when they need it a moron

Can you guys just try to enjoy one of the few times per decade that the lions have a chance? Just enjoy the ride - it is all we have here in Detroit for football!

Mike gets upset when you use facts to dispute his claims.
He said other QB's must suck because their kicker outscored them. That was found to be a lie. Cherry picked stats are cherry picked even if he does want to ignore them. I'll post them again for his purview.
Rodgers has 32 TD's on the season. Crosby has 21 FG.
Carr has 24 TD's. Janikowski has 25 FG
Roethlisberger has 25 TD. Boswell has 14 FG
Brady has 22 TD. Gostkowski has 20 FG with 4 more games played than Brady.
Stafford has 22 TD's and Prater has 28 FG's.

Mike said I said he can't lead a team to victory (Omitting the full statement to avoid having to face the facts). Well, when you take the stats above, and the fact that their team is constantly having to win in the 4th, it's apparent that the one leading the team to victory is Prater. But don't let facts get in the way of Mike's narrative.
The difference between having a competent QB and a middle of the pack wanna be QB pulling in top dollar: Patriots average points differential: 13 (12.91667). Lions: 5. Both teams have a comparable strength of schedule. The difference, one wins resoundingly, the other let's the kicker win it. We will all watch as the Lions now implode and the excuse train will get full momentum for why the team has somehow managed to throw away a golden opportunity to change the narrative.

Again, classic case of Swifsteritus... I'm the one who is consistently using Stafford's record setting statistics to back up that he is an excellent QB and you turds reply with something about garbage time, etc. (again, still not clear how you're able to call them garbage numbers when his record setting comeback numbers would directly contradict that).

When I give you stats, you say it doesn't matter. When I don't, you try to use stats.

Fact is, Stafford's numbers are top tier in all aspects of the game and getting better

Again, let's be clear, it's not just me... there are dozens of professional NFLs journalists, analysts, etc calling Stafford an MVP candidate or even favorite... and you're calling him middle of the road wannabe. Pointless

When you're down in the 4th quarter, how is there garbage time? Who is talking about garbage time? Are you just making things up as you go now?

Are you serious? All you guys have ever done is claim that Stafford's record setting yardage is only due to airing it out when they are losing big in the 4th quarter!

Now you claim I'm making that up? Go back and read the goddamn thread (and last year's, and the year before, etc). It's been Justin's go to argument for years

He is Pad Statford. He puts up awesome stats against teams in garbage time, in garbage games that don't matter. I'm happy he gives you meanless numbers to come on here to defend him with when the only thing that matters is W's and L's.

Page 3

PS. Funny how "all that matters is W's and L's" argument kinda went away as the year went on and then it turns into crying about how they won, or who they won against (although not necessarily by Justin)

So to be clear, you translated Justin as being "You guys". So I didn't say anything about garbage time stats. My problem with Stafford is he's paid for elite production, doesn't deliver on it, and when the Lion's start to have a season that on paper says they could make the playoffs all the sunshine blowers pull out their bull horns to talk about how great he is. This team isn't good. That goes for every position. They are the version of 2015 MSU only they won't make the playoffs.

So, being in the Top 5 in QBR all season and getting to 9-5 isn't delivering?

Again, do you guys watch the game?
The Jets paid Ryan Fitzpatrick $12mil and he's in the bottom 5 in QBR and benched for a rookie
The Broncos paid Brock Osweiler $72mil ($18mil/year) and he's been benched as well

I'm sure the Lions are quite alright with Stafford's value at this point.

This whole me vs MM regarding Stafford thing started with me challenging you guys to come up with a better viable alternative. You couldn't then, and you can't now. Get somebody better or shut up

Took all the way until page 2 to find it

Yeah but that was from week 3, when he did put up stats in garbage time. When we look at the entire body of work this season he and the Lions have found ways to win games late, not just put up stats in garbage time. Albeit against inferior teams.

I can't stress enough how big Monday night's game against the Cowboy's is. The Lions control their own destiny. Here is their opportunity to win a big game, on a big stage, on the road and shut everyone (including me) up.

I agree, this is going to be a defining moment for this team. The season is on the line.

I remember when you could always count on Barry Sanders to have a 200 yard game when they played on Monday night. Let's see if Stafford can rise up like that. If their run game stays anemic, he is going to have to deliver.

I think the GB game is going to be their ticket in where they will promptly lose to whoever they play in the first round. But with a QB with an amazeballs QBR, they should win, so I'll be wrong.

Look for the Packers to send the Lions back to the minor leagues.
