2014 - 15 Lions Discussion Thread

Lol

Tony Romo started then sat the rest of the game after one series. Players were complaining that the game was taking it easy and it wasn't real football. I wouldn't put this in the category of proving anything other than in a scrimmage Stafford can throw the ball.
:roll: THEY BARLEY TOUCH EACH OTHER

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but again, more proof that a better qb would put them in the super bowl.

And who would you suggest?

Oh not this shit again.

"and who would you suggest? but it can't be manning, or brady, or brees, or rothlesberger, or Rodgers, or Wilson, or any of the other quarter backs who are, you know, actually good."

Don't fall for the hypothetical trap Ryan.

Yea, not playing that game again. Apparently you're supposed to be 100% satisfied with the guy you have till another option comes up. Otherwise you're a bandwagon fan and know nothing.

I dont know how that isnt a valid question. If Stafford quit right now and walked away, who is your suggestion for a replacement? Brees, Brady, Rothlesburger arent leaving where they are, so who do you hire?

There's too much money invested into Stafford so we're stuck with him until his contract is up

The contract is irrelevant. There are a few guys who are legit studs and would be an improvement (Rodgers, Brees, Wilson, Flacco, Roethlisberger, Brady). However, those are realistic solutions as they aren't going anywhere. There are 4-5 guys who would be a wash, and I'm not convinced that they would be an improvement (Newton, Romo, Ryan, Rivers, Kaepernick). The rest of the league/teams? Those guys would LOVE to have Stafford and would consider him a solid piece of the puzzle for their own SB aspirations.

You're missing my point. I never said that those guys weren't good/better. But they aren't available. So what good does bitching about it do? Stafford is by far the best QB that the Lions could hope to have under center, in... you know... the realm of reality.

Saying you'd rather have any of those guys is like saying you'd rather have Dan Marino or Joe Montana.

Thank you.

Apparently living in fantasy world is what it takes to be considered a fan these days.

I'm not saying you have to be 100% satisfied. But, as I've stated many times... Stafford is the Lions best option by a long shot.

Maybe you want Jay Cutler? I heard Rex Grossman is available too

There are 20+ teams out there who would love to have the QB that you all seem to think is below average.

From clickondetroit.com:

"With under two minutes left until halftime, Stafford took over the Team Irvin offense and led it 64 yards to the 11-yard line before throwing an interception to Texans' defensive lineman J.J. Watt.

Stafford also fumbled three times in the game but lost just one of those.

Detroit's QB finished the game 15/25 for a rating for 114.2. He outgained teammates Matt Ryan and Tony Romo by a combined 316-147. Drew Brees, Andrew Luck and Andy Dalton combined for 336 yards for Team Carter.

Overall, Stafford's performance was reminiscent of his gunslinger mentality under Jim Schwartz. He won the offensive MVP award because of his gaudy statistics, but completed just 60 percent of his passes and turned the ball over two times."

Yep. Adios. Sucks to have to play against him, but it's only a matter of time before he does something that gets him removed from the league.
