2014 - 15 Lions Discussion Thread

Seriously Ryan.. Instead of being an ambiguously angry little crybaby... Pick a better QB than Stafford that is available. Go ahead. I'm waiting.

Or just sit there and continue your never-ending waterfall of whining

How did they "manage to blow another game?". They went into Lambeau, almost universally acknowledged as the very definition of homefield advantage... And lost by 10. They were down by 14, battled back to tie, had some unfortunate bounces and calls and lost to the Packers on the road. After beating the Packers at home.

They are 11-5 and going to the playoffs.

Maybe you should just quit being a Lions fan and root for the Harlem Globetrotters or some other team that always wins

For starters a definition of blowing it is when you do a goal line defense that stops no points, then you turn around and let a punt return back after your three and out. Or how about the penalties? Granted they aren't as bad as last year, but how many asinine penalties did they have? True leadership comes from a true QB. Till then you just end up with decent seasons every now and then or every decade or whatever it is.

Obviously the only true form of fandom is to blindly follow the team chanting "we're number 1".

Umm. That is why I said they are a good qb away from being a legit team, not get rid of Stafford today and replace him. Perhaps you're tampon needs to be changed.

Stafford has a lot to criticize but Detroit fans have always had grass-is-greener syndrome. He's certainly not a legitimately great QB, but he's young enough and has enough talent that you can have some legit hope he gains experience to put it all together.

It's obviously not the same old Lions. If it was, we wouldn't be talking about a playoff gameS (plural) twice within 5 years.

depends on how much of their history you want to relive. No, in the last 10 years it isn't the same ole lions, but they are track to repeat the early/mid 90's then go back to being irrelevant. It is nice to see them in the playoffs though!

Stop making sense! Surely these 11-5 Lions are the same old 0-16 Lions!!

For once we agree.....

In short, fuck the Lions, and especially that piece of shit Suh......I've always been a Packers fan, but never a Lions hater. But after yet another intentional attempt to hurt an opposing player.....Wtf? What a classless piece of human garbage he is. What's it gonna take to reign this asshat in?

Suh was pushed backwards by a Packer. When you watch it in slow motion it looks intentional, but at full speed it doesnt look he was doing anything except taking a step backwards.

Agreed. I am NOT a Suh fan. Undeniable football player, seems like a pretty good guy off the field... but disgracefully dirty on the field.

That having been said, his (well deserved) reputation sometimes makes him look guilty of things that really are not dirty. As mentioned, in slow-mo, it looks like it MIGHT have been dirty.. at regular speed? No way

But back to Stafford. Say you were a GM in a real life fantasy football type of situation.

You have the 7th? pick in the draft and you must take a QB with your first pick.

So far, the people ahead of you have drafted (in no particular order)
-Brady
-Brees
-Peyton Manning
-Luck
-Roethlesburger?
-Wilson?
-Matt Ryan?

So who do you take? Who's better than Stafford? Eli Manning? How many INTs does he have this season?

Anybody watching the Sunday Night game? Andy Dalton throwing INTs by overthrowing wide open receivers? You'd rather have that guy than Stafford? You gotta be retarded.

Stafford is EASILY in the top 10 QBs in the league and when Brady, Brees and Manning drop off/retire you'll see Stafford as one of the elite 2-4 QBs in the league alongside Aaron Rodgers

... Waiting....

Other than the established studs like Brady, Manning, Brees, Luck.... Who's definitively better than Stafford in this league? Come on loudmouths...here's your chance. Speak up. Who's better????

Aaron Rodgers completed 11-of-13 passes (84.7%) following his return (66.7% before injury)

Matthew Stafford missed his receivers at a high clip on Sunday: He was off target on 32 percent (13 of 41) of his throws, his highest mark of the season. ¿ 5 of the 7 incompletions thrown at Calvin Johnson were the result of off-target throws. Stafford's previous worst game this season in terms of off-target percentage also came against the Packers (29% in Week 3). Stafford's career-high off-target percentage (33%) came in Week 4 of 2011 against the Cowboys.

Passing Leaders
DET C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT SACKS
Staff 20/41 217 5.3 3 0 2-15

GB C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT SACKS
Rodgers 17/22 226 10.3 2 0 0-0
Flynn 1/1 6 6.0 0 0 1-7

IMO <-----
The last stats a funny one... Even with a busted up Rogers and a quarterback who hasn't played in over a year, played better then Stafford!
10 penalties for 53 yards?, the safety against dumb dumb?, Stafford failure to win a road game against a team that finishes the season with a winning record .. yea the lions suck AND so does Stafford (even with there 11/5 fluke season) Dallas will toy with them just like what they did to the foreskins today. (44-17)

Again, yet ANOTHER response where you just spew verbal diarrhea without answering a direct question. So, AGAIN, unless you can suggest a superior alternative to Stafford, just shut your stupid fucking mouth? Anybody can bitch and bitch and bitch again when they don't get the final results they wanted... but who cares unless you have something valuable to contribute

Guess what... Calvin Johnson dropped some passes this year. You ready to talk shit about him too? Got a better wide receiver in mind?

Yeah, they made some mistakes. Yeah, so did the Packers (PF on 3rd down?). They lost by 10 points, on the road, to the best team in the conference. You think that's "blowing another one?" you are seriously the stupidest excuse for a sports fan on this forum (including Swifster, think about that). You literally have no fucking clue what you are talking about

I was wondering how long before wizeguy showed up :)
Lmao.. I stayed away from watching the Lions... Too depressing to watch! Got better things to do at 1 in the afternoon.. Been paying attention to the better teams... (Oops) New England , Green Bay and Dallas

Sal... Let's make a bet. Det vs Dal straight up. Winner gets to order delivery to work on the loser? $25-30 sound like a fair limit? (I know you Italians can eat, I'm not trying to wipe out my kid's college funds!!)

OK, I'm going to bed. I'll give Ryan all GD night to come up with a better QB than Stafford that the Lions should be going after. Obviously Brees/Manning/Brady/Luck/Rodgers/Luck are off the table. So who, other than those guys... are available and better than Stafford? Come on, Ryan, en-fucking-lighten us with your football genius

DEAL! Obviously I got Dallas
Jimmy Johns? 2 subs, 2 chips, 2 drinks delivered? It's about $25

Let's be honest, your choice for the perfect coach for Michigan shows your complete ignorance when it comes to sports, but for the fun of it, I'll outline a list of QB's who are better than Stafford.

Current QB's with higher ratings than Stafford, excluding your above list.

If you aspire to the QBR rating, these QB's are all ranked above Stafford, and they don't have 2 of the best receivers in the league.
Romo
Roethlisberger
E Manning
Joe Flacco
Matt Ryan
Philip Rivers
R Wilson
Nick Foles
Tannehill
Sanchez
C Newton
Kaepernick
Fitzpatrick
Dalton

For the fun of it, here's a list of QB's who have more Fantasy value (Again, excluding your list of no nos)
Matt Ryan
Wilson
Roethlisberger
Romo
E Manning
Newton
Tannehill
Bridgewater
Cutler (Let that sink in for a minute)

If computer generated stats and the sort aren't your thing, let's talk pure numbers.

Passing yards:
Romo
Roethlisberger
Ryan
Rivers
Wilson
Palmer
Fitzpatrick
E Manning
Alex Smith
Tannehille
Flacco
Cutler
Sanchez
Kyle Orton

Fine, straight numbers of yardage is variable and can be misleading. People who throw more will have more yards potentially. Let's see how many passes they complete for the season. Passing Percentage:
Romo
Roethlisberger
Rivers
Tannehille
Ryan
cutler
Smith
Bridgewater
Sanchez
E Manning
K Orton
Dalton
Austin Davis
Fitzpatrick
Palmer
Wilson
Flacco

Average yards? I know he wins at this right?
Romo
Roethlisberger
Fitzpatrick
Sanchez
Ryan
Hoyer
Wilson
Rivers
E Manning
Palmer

Ok, maybe not average yards. He must be a top 10 in TD passes thrown
Romo
Rivers
Roethlisberger
E Manning
Cutler
Ryan
Tannehill
Flacco
Wilson
Derek Carr

Damn, middle of the pack again. Ok. Get that hoobed ESPN QBR shit out of here. Let's talk the time honored passer rating.
Romo
Roethlisberger
Ryan
Rivers
Wilson
Palmer
Luck
Fitzpatrick
E Manning
A Smith
Tannehill
Flacco
Cutler
Sanchez
Orton

I give up. The only thing I can find where Stafford is close to a top 10 QB in is interceptions where he's has the 12th most in the league (obviously there are ties, so there's more than 12 listed).
Cutler
Bortles
Rivers
Dalton
McCown
E Manning
Hoyer
Geno Smith
Ryan
Flacco

Sooooo if I had to guess, you can put a list of probably 7 to 10 legitimate QB's better than Stafford in the league excluding your list. Add your list and it's closer to 15. he's an average QB who has an amazing receiving core around him.

Before you go off on some retarded rant again about it's a full sport, with running and shit. The Lions are 27th in the league in rushing. A total of 1311 rushing yards this year. So their run game isn't exactly outshining anything other than beating Ten, SD, Zona, TB, and the Raiders in Rushing stats.

The Lions are an average team who got a good schedule and plenty of close wins. I read somewhere that the lions are 0-16 against teams who have a winning record. Not sure how the stat is created or if it's even legitimate, but it sure seem likely knowing the team. Get them a good QB and this team becomes a legitimate contender. Now I know facts aren't your thing, so try not to stress out too much about all this and just step away from the keyboard before you do something like have a logical thought. Heaven forbid you become one of those bandwagon fans who live in reality!
