2013 Tigers Thread

I'm curious to see if Sherzer gets traded like the rumors suggest. I have a hard time watching them trade him to keep Fielder, after two years of sub-par performance and an abysmal postseason. If they keep him around another year (and I don't think that's a bad idea, then they need to really decide if the money is worth it for him. ROI for him isn't that good right now. Spend, beg, borrow, or steal to get some decent players for the bullpen. This has been a glaring issue for years, but if they want to win one while Illitch is vertical, they're gonna have to spend here.

In all honesty, I didn't like the Fielder signing. Miggy was a better than average 1st baseman. I still don't like how long his contract is. But, players all have bad years. He's hit better than Pujols both years...

I'd say your bitching too much about the bullpen because of 2 grand slams compared to Boston's bullpen and Oakland's as well, being so good at getting us out. To me, Leyland should have played Dirks who can bunt, run and hit MUCH better than Kelly. I agree with Swifster about Prince. The guys had a great year and just like in the 06-- EDIT: 2012-- World Series, their bats died. Joel

The bullpen has been bad all year. Bad has varied, but still inconsistent. The only two consistant bullpen pitchers have been Benoit and Smyly.

if you watch this replay. he was 3/4 the way home....he just stops and is watching. if we would of kept running, he would have made it.

Fielder and the bull pen need work. The divorce thing is a BS excuse. There are plenty of players going through and have been through worse. Having personal issues sucks, but at the end of the day he's paid to perform. Maybe the Tigers should write that into contracts.
