2013 College Football Megathread

This week we determine who is shittier, Nebraska or Michigan. For as much trouble as Nebraska had against Northwestern at home, I'm not sure Nebraska is winning any more games. Michigan they maybe have a chance of beating, MSU next week, no way. Iowa, I pray to God that they get up for that game at home and win because Iowa fans are obnoxious.

Try being consistent before you take the crown of best team in the state. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you did lose to Notre Dame.

And you lost to Penn State. Your point?

I'm looking forward to the comments here once OSU exposes MSU......;)

I'm hoping for a good game. OSU hasn't faced a decent defense yet this year, so MSU could find weaknesses other teams did not. On the other hand, MSU's offense is shaky, but starting to show signs of cohesion. It's still inexcusable that we have receivers like Fowler and the TE Price dropping passes that hit them square in the chest. That's middle school fundamental shit you shouldn't be failing on.

One last thing - how many recruiting classes has U of M had that have been ranked in the top? What hardware do those have to show? Any Big 10 championships?

I just looked at the Sagarin (Predictor) ratings and found this interesting.

40. Michigan
41. Iowa
42. Nebraska

It at least gives me a small glimmer of hope that Nebraska won't drop all three of their remaining games.

MSU is 16 in the Predictor.

For sure it'll define OSU's season. Blow out MSU, and there's some validity to them being a NC contender. Lose, or win ugly, and the doubters will really be chirping. Best case for OSU is to win out, beat MSU by a decent margin, then win convincingly in a big name bowl game against a quality opponent. That'll help recruiting, and set the table for next year. Right now, to even play an Alabama in the NC game, then get blown out, would actually be a big step backwards. The Buckeye's can't beat 'Bama, and I'm not sure they'd fare much better against Oregon, or even FSU.

I didn't notice Notre Dame was based in Michigan. And MSU WHIPPED UM's ASS!!! Your excuse in the Penn St game was that UM made to many coaching mistakes. MSU had the same issue in the ND game.

Braxton Miller is Shoestring in red. As I said before, the first one to 20 wins Jim. And Ohio State isn't scoring 20. MSU lost to OSU by a point last year without an offense. MSU does have to score 30 (Indiana is the exception) to beat other teams. And with even a mediocre offense, they can score 20 on OSU. OSU has played NOBODY.

And MSU is still on pace to go 13-1. MSU wants OSU. MSU wants Oregon in Pasadena.

A couple thoughts here Tom. First off, Braxton is much better than Denard, and has a much better supporting cast. Second, OSU will put up more than 20 on MSU. Third, OSU has played and beat the same nobody's your boys have. And lastly, I'm getting a kick out of the fact that you and I are exchanging friendly jabs here, while the UM boys seems to be struck mute. I think your guys have a good team this year, and win or lose, I'm expecting a good, clean, hard fought game, without the unnecessary theatrics that say, Charles Woodson types embodied with all their "ripping their helmets off in David Boston's face" nonsense in past years.

Jim, you know who Tressel's DC was, right?

I suppose I could google it, but no, I don't. I do know that we won the NC that year though....;).....Didn't even have to share it....

Looking forward to the game in Indy. And OSU won't get to 20.

As for the DC in 2002, it was none other than Mark Dantonio. I know you knew that.

and once again, Stanford crushes Oregon's BCS Title Game hopes. Also, Baylor rolls.

My question is: where will Stanford jump to? Will they pass OSU? My inclination is no, since Stanford lost to Utah, but the BCS seems to have no love lost on Ohio State.

The Buckeyes will have to earn it, plain and simple. There's plenty of time to slip up, and there's nothing worse than playing UM with them having nothing to lose, and OSU having everything to lose.
