2013 College Football Megathread

If MSU wins, they will move up, but not be high enough to go to another game, leaving them heading to the Rose Bowl. If they lose, then OSU will most likely go to the NC game, leaving the Rose Bowl open for the next Big 10 team. They typically (key word here) take the highest rated Big 10 and Pac 12 team, but they don't have to. There's a possibility they could end up in the Orange or, worst case, Capital One bowl, but it sounds like the Rose Bowl is almost guaranteed. This year, at least whoever loses the B10 Championship doesn't have to worry about the 3rd place team jumping them in bowl standings.

If OSU wins and goes to the NC, the Rose Bowl bid will go to an at large bid. Probably Bama or something that of that nature. Same reason MSU didn't get the Sugar Bowl bid when UM did. MSU either wins and goes to the Rose Bowl or just goes to another ordinary bowl game.

OSU wins, they are going to the NC game and MSU won't sniff a BCS type game....

I suppose Bama could go. ESPN did a write up on the BCS options.

The Rose bowl ONLY goes to the Big Ten Champ. After that, it is an at large bid. If the champ goes to the NC, then anyone can go.

Dream on! The Orange Bowl gets the first pick of BCS eligible teams. That means Alabama. If the Rose Bowl does get Ohio State, they'll take MSU. State travels well and hasn't been there is 25 years. They are going to Pasadena regardless...

Hoke announced the whole gang is coming back next year. As it looks now, 7-5 is reasonable. 4 - 8 is also possible. If Borges decides to call plays like he should and the offensive line shows up, they could end up 11-1. I'm leaning more toward a 7-5 season.

Don't predict next year until signing day, Spring ball and fall practice is over. You never know what could happen...

Why are rectal thermometers banned in Ohio State’s campus?

They cause too much brain damage.

5 days until kick off!

Once again the B1G swings and whiffs on discipline when it comes to Michigan and Ohio State...

C'mon Tom....It's THE GAME. Tempers are gonna flare....and emotion can sway the game either way. The feeling in the stands after the scuffle, was.."Ok, it's on now"....Wasn't that big of a deal. Remember when Woodson ripped his bonnet off after confronting David Boston? Shoulda been 15 a yarder, but there was no call. Basically, that took Boston out of the game, and UM went on to win...

That's how the top tier teams do it....See you in Indy....;)

I think if the next game was any other but the B1G Championship, some of those players would be suspended. "Tempers are gonna flare" is no excuse. Just look at William Gholson, who got suspended for throwing a punch at Taylor Lewan against Michigan. Of course tempers are gonna flare, it's a heated rivalry, and MSU (players, fans, and coaches alike) wants nothing more than to beat UM. But he threw the punch and got suspended, rightfully so.

My conspiracy theory is that the B1G doesn't want to suspend any OSU players because they want to be sure that OSU wins and gets into the BCS National Championship to boost their image in the national spotlight.

Interesting thought....I'm good with that...:dunno:

Jim, as always, just having fun.

How do you know when you are near Ohio State’s campus?

When you honk your horn, all the sheep back up to the fence.

3 Days until kick off, Sparty On!

An OSU alum and a MSU alum are standing next to each other in the men's room. The MSU grad finishes first and heads for the door. The OSU grad says, "At the Ohio State University, they teach us to wash our hands after we use the bathroom."

Unimpressed, the MSU alum says, "At the Michigan State University, they teach us not to piss on our hands."

Put the checkbook away Bama. It's not happening.

Paramus (N.J.) Paramus Catholic cornerback Jabrill Peppers made a huge splash last week when he tweeted that he was going to take official visits despite his commitment to Michigan. Now the word is that Peppers will take his official visit to Michigan on Dec. 13 with his mom and that will likely end the process. Alabama appeared to be the biggest threat to the Wolverines, but now I hear that most close to Peppers want him to stick to his word and play in Ann Arbor. Stanford was the only school everyone green lit and that apparently isn't going to happen this late. Michigan coaches will be on hand en force this Friday for Peppers' final game and then the following weekend I expect them to close things out on his official. Crisis averted barring a surprise.
