2011 LOLions predictions

God, can Matthew Stafford suck ANY worse??? TERRIBLE!

Only 21/26 for 260 yards and 3 TDs and no INTs in the half? Who is this guy kidding! GARBAGE!

:werd: I wish somebody like Robvas could help the Lions get a new qb

Great game all the way around against a team that NEEDED a win. I really hope we can pass Atlanta for the 5th spot, since I'd much rather play the Giants or Failboys over the 49ers or Saints.

Calvin Johnson makes him look better than he is, and the defense continues to pile on the points for the Lions. They played a great game today.

Everyone in the country is saying Stafford is a great quarterback, and talking about his bright future....but I guess you are right. Stafford sucks.

How many quarterbacks were good if they didn't have receivers that could catch?

Defense piled on the points???? The defense had 1 touchdown late in the game. All the other points were offense and special teams.

How does Calvin make Stafford look great? When Calvin doesnt get the ball, Young or Pettigrew do. So do they make him look great as well? Stafford is one of the BEST QB's in the league and will only improve over time. I really need to clean my glasses while i watch the next game, maybe i will see what your seeing.

Stafford is on his way to being a great QB end of debate, you can't deny his numbers they tell the story!!!

Cool, they made it to the play offs. Let's hope Green Bay doesn't do too much damage on New Years Day.

Next week could be a battle of the second-stringers. I'd have the starters in there for a series or 2, and send in the subs! If the Packers were still undefeated, I would have expected them to go for the jugular in their final home game. With the loss, I think it will be more about making their playoff run. Should be very interesting to see how the NFC standings play out.

There are FOUR players on the team with 600+ yards receiving.... Think about that. FOUR of them. Johnson, Burleson, Pettigrew and Young. Burleson is going to finish within a hair of a 1,000 yard season.

That's pretty good distribution if you ask me.

You'd be better off here just admitting that you were a bit unfounded in your criticism of Stafford than to continue to dig your silly hole

I don't think either team can afford to rest players next week. The Packers have a bye week to rest. I don't think they'd want two weeks 'off'. As for the Lions, next week makes the difference between playing the Saints or Cowboys/Giants. They need that game.

Calvin Johnson is one of seven wide receivers in NFL history to accumulate more than 45 touchdowns and 5,500 yards in the first five years of their career. Johnson will be at Green Bay next Sunday. He will have a chance to become just the fourth wide receiver to catch at least 50 touchdowns in their first five seasons...
Only two Lions receivers have surpassed 1,400 yards receiving in one season since 1960. Herman Moore accomplished this in 1995 and Calvin Johnson did it this season. If he has 145 yards or more receiving next Sunday it would be the most receiving yards by any Lions player in more than 50 years. It is no coincidence before they won their 10th game on Saturday, the last time they had a 10 win season was in 1995.
Since 1960 only three NFL quarterbacks 23 years old or younger have thrown for over 4,500 yards in a single season. This feat has not been accomplished in over 15 years, but Matthew Stafford joins Dan Marino and Drew Bledsoe as the only quarterbacks to reach 4,500 yards in the last 50 years.
Matthew Stafford and the Lions defeated the Chargers 38-10 as he broke the record for the most passing yards in a single season by any Lions quarterback. He also has thrown 10 multiple passing touchdown games in this season, tying the Lions mark since 1960 with Scott Mitchell who accomplished this in 1995. Stafford is just 23 years old and will get an opportunity to break this record next Sunday at Green Bay
Matthew Stafford threw for 373 yards and set a Lions record for the most passing yards in a season (4,518), breaking the mark set by Scott Mitchell in 1995.
Then there is Hanson
Most field goals (50 or more yards) (total) - 51
Most field goals (50 or more yards) in a season - 8 (tied with Morten Andersen)
Became the second player in league history to score 200+ points against 3 different teams (Packers, Bears, Vikings)
Most career games with one NFL team (310)
On December 18, 2011, became the first player in NFL history to score 2,000 points with one franchise.

Detroit, particularly Stafford, just picked apart a very good Chargers team. Our banged up secondary played spectacularly. Although we didn't get to Rivers, we capitalized on his mistakes. We are currently hoping for Atlanta to lose this week and we HAVE to win at GB next week - we are actually 2 point favorites - to get that 5th seed where we will play either Dallas or Giants. Ideally, we'd play one of those two in the WC and SF in the diviisional. If Atlanta wins both games, we could host the NFC Championship game if that all played out. Of course it's a dream scenario, but it would sure be nice and is fun to think about!

I was most impressed with the fact that they only lost 8 yards in penalties!

This. If the Lions learn to control themselves and not give the opponent 100 yards a game, that become very tough to beat.

As for Stafford, the idea that he only looks good because of Calvin Johnson is beyond ridiculous. He clearly has a solid connection with Pettigrew, Young, Burleson and Scheffler as well. This is to say nothing of the fact that he gets gaudy numbers and has picked apart teams on a team that has absolutely no ground game at all. It's not like opponents wonder "Hmm...will the Lions throw it or run against us this week?" They know they are getting thrown at, and they still can't stop it.

Stafford is on his way to being great if he stays healthy, he is still very young at 23
