2011 LOLions predictions

Well at least the NFL fucked the Lions out of a TD, a victory, and a 5 seed all in one day!

Quit bitching you chumps. Be happy the team is in the playoffs. Sometimes I think people in Detroit just like being losers and don't know how to handle being good at anything without complaining.

you can be happy , this performance was just ridiculous, gunther needs to be fired , i dont want playoffs as a token victory, i want fucking superbowls .They will get crushed next week ,this defense is pathetic, superbowls or the season is a failure, period

The Lions from a few years ago wouldn't have even made it a game; you could've stopped watching at the half. Play-offs can result in some wacky results. We don't need to have the best team, just the better team on the right day.
It feels good to be in a position that we're heading to the play-offs, and we're competitive with some of the top teams in the league.

You do realize the team was 0-16 three seasons ago right?

p.s, Matt "Terrible" Stafford is now 5th on the list of most yards in a season. In NFL history. At 23.

he was unreal today , hell he has been terrific all year , him and calvin will be superstars for years to come..

You also do realize the playoffs haven't happened yet right?
no shit, if they lose in first round they failed, same for steelers and any other winning organization, you kool-aid drinkers can be happy with a token playoff , i want more , hell you want to impress me? repeat 10 wins again next year, until then one hit wonders

I'm not a huge NFL fan. Just never grew on me I suppose. I do enjoy watching the Lions, though usually it's for the comedy effect. Couple things from this thread that stand out.

1. Stats are not everything. While I disagree with Robvas about Stafford, I also don't agree that just becuase he puts up big numbers that he's a gold vagina to be worshiped. Consistency is more of an indicator of greatness than a single season. If Stafford comes out next season and performs at the same level, then there's more room to talk.

2. I don't disagree that the Lions are good this season. I do disagree with the mentality that just because we were 0-16 a few seasons ago we shouldn't be upset with the play of different aspects of the team. This is the NFL. It's not college where you have to bake a team together every 3 to 4 years and hope that talent you recruit is as good as they should be. These players are the cream of the crop from College. The idea that this team can't turn itself around in less than 3 years and be a Super Bowl contender just isn't true.

3. The idea that we should be super bowl bound or we suck is stupid as well. There's absolutely no way a team can be super bowl bound every season. A playoff bid is about as good as you can consistently expect. And this is where consistency comes in. Making the playoffs once every 13 years isn't consistent. IT's a good start. Make it again next year and keep building on momentum. The Super Bowls will come naturally if all aspects of the team play at the caliber that they are.

I'm just saying, it's pretty stupid to get all "GARREAHRGA THE FUCKEING SAESON IS OVER THE WILL GET SHREDDED FUCKING FAILURE" before the games have happened.

How is it a token playoff? The franchise is loaded with young players and the team is getting better year after year. How would 10 wins again next year impress you? I thought "superbowls or the season is a failure, period." Can failure be impressive?

thats how winning franchises do things , if new england does not win a SB they failed, lets not be happy just cause you made the dance

When you never make the dance, you have the right and obligation to be happy at making the dance. When you're goals and priorities shift, you start to change your mind in "making the dance."

Please, PLEASE, do not compare the Lions to the Steelers or Patriots. The players, coaches, and organization as a whole are not anywhere near that level.

You don't criticize a 1st grader because they haven't graduated from high school; it wouldn't make sense. When you're watching a team that doesn't have Super Bowl potential, you don't grade them on a Super Bowel victory.

isn't todays story really about how a kid in only his 2nd career start throws for 480 yards, has 6 touches, and leads his team to a victory over a play-off bound rival? stats don't mean shit when your squad loses. don't get me wrong, it's nice to see detroit have a "feel good" season, but let's not put stafford in canton just yet......;)

I'm not. I'm saying there are people that claim Stafford is shit. As of today, he joins Drew Brees, Tom Brady and Dan Marino as the only other people in NFL history to throw for over 5,000 in a season. That shit doesn't happen by accident.

Also, if the NFL wasn't ridiculous, and they had actually ruled the touchdown that Titus Young caught that was clearly and indisputably a touchdown a touchdown, we'd be talking about 6 Stafford touchdowns and a victory at Lambeau for the first time in 20 years for the Lions. And they'd be playing a poor division champ next week instead of playing against the hottest team in the league.
