Carnes looked good in the Spring game. We'll be ok without Martinez. If Starling hangs around, which seems doubtful but who knows, Nebraska will have some serious QB depth.

I think Bubba's playin' ball for the Royals. I have far more respect for Nebraska's OL than UM's. It's not a matter if Shoelace gets hurt, but when. That's why I think UM finishes 5-7 or 6-6. But even if Starling plays at Nebraska, he'll just be a true freshman. Martinez is the one guy they can't afford to lose. If Martinez gets hammered by OSU or Wisconsin before the MSU game, MSU could go into Lincoln with a good chance to win.

MOOSU signed a great recruiting class again last February

Didn't know 30th ranked class would be classified as a "GREAT" recruiting class...go figure

They were some disappointments such as former 5 star OL recruit having to withdrawl from football due to a back and neck injury suffered during a practice.

5 star? MOOSU only wishes it pulled 5 stars. If your talking about David Barrent he was only a low 4 star on Rivals and a high 3 star on Scout far from that 5 star huh.

Former 4 star recruit Fred Smith decided to transfer over playing time (MSU has a lot of good WR's). The better you get, the more the transfers happen.

Transfer over playing time? He was red-shirted and there are 4 seniors leaving after this year Including this year he still had 2 years left. Cause he transfers he'll sit out a year anyways. The real reason is he was singled out cause he was the one who spent 4 days in jail for Battery in that Dorm Jumping back in 2009.

But let's not forget ATH Onaje Miller (who left before he even got to school...heres a hint it's legal trouble), QB Joe Boisture, WR Donald Spencer (opps there go all the WR depth) they are the only ones I can remember off the top of my head.

Jim, if there ever was a year for you to pull for a 7-5 or 8-4 season, this is it. If they go 10-2 or 11-1, they'll probably keep that coach (they'd have to, wouldn't they?). I could see Urban Meyer taking that job if offered.
That, and they'd still bitch slap UM in November anyways...

i'm not holding my breath for meyer, anyway. i'd just as soon rebuild from within, if it's feasible. sorry, but a 7-5...hmm.....there's a few haters on here that'd make things pretty rough on us osu guys....hell, they been flappin' their jibs since february....still got nothin..........but....

And Michigan has been ranked higher in recruiting forever. How was the Gator Bowl? They got what they needed. I'm happy with it. Just another year when UM out recruits MSU while going to the Toilet Bowl and MSU plays on New Years Day (yeah the Gator Bowl was NYD, but UM won't get there either).

As for Onaje Miller, if he couldn't keep out of trouble, so be it. Wasn't worried about Boisture. MSU just reloaded with Tyler O'Conner. How is Pace and Stonum doing? Anyone have a sighting on Kellen Jones?

As for Fred Smith, Fred's problem wasn't the dorm issue. It was Fred's inability to stay away from cheeseburgers. Fred was over 240lbs!!! Remember Mike Williams. The OL the Lions drafted as a wide receiver? The same thing. Fred was actually listed on the depth chart as a.... full back. Spencer isn't an issue. Who's your back up QB with Shoelace get hammered vs ND?

The Spartans still have B.J. Cunningham, Keith Nichol, Bennie Fowler, Tony Lippett, Keyshawn Martin and Cam Martin. Add in a couple freshman and we're fine. Add to that, we actually use the tight end as a weapon and have Brian Linthicum and Dion Sims to throw to, our receiving group is fine. Not like Roy Roundtree that drops everything thrown his way. I think Odoms is the only guy who can catch the ball.

Jim at 7-5, OSU would still win more games than UM.

It's too bad Martinez and Robinson will both be hurt by the time Nebraska and Michigan play. Should have made that game the first in league play because it would have been fun to watch early in the season when both should be healthy.

Jesus Christ you're retarded. Ignoring everything in this post except for the crack on MSU playing again in a NYD bowl while UM doesn't.

MSU in the last 20 years has played in 3 NYD bowl games. They only won 1 of those. In the last 20 years, they have attended 11 total bowl games, winning 4 of them. MSU's bowl history is that once every 7 years they get into a NYD bowl game, and once every other year attend a toilet bowl game. With a combined 30% win ratio in their bowl attendance.

UM in the last 20 years has played in 16 NYD bowl games. They have attended 3 toilet bowl games. Michigan has won 10 of their bowl games and lost 9.

Let's compare now.

MSU Attendance in a bowl game: 55%
MSU Attendance in a NYD Bowl game: 15%
MSU Win Percentage: 36%

UM Attendance in a bowl game: 95%
UM Attendance in a NYD bowl game: 80%
UM Win Percentage: 52%

So now that it's cleared up that you plan to completely continue your mantra of talking out your ass because you don't have the slightest clue what you are talking about, carry on.

true, but our standards are quite a bit higher than 7-5....;)

Exactly, and they will do anything to win. Lie to the NCAA, Cover up players violating rules, You name it, and it'll get done if it means a win. OSU has lost all credibility on any type of standard.

Ryan, I like how you bring up HISTORY and nothing recent. MSU has been to a NYD bowl game two out of the last three years. MSU has been to a couple other toilet bowl games. Dantonio lost all 4 of those games. No excuses. The only good game played by MSU in a bowl the last 4 years was the Georgia game in the Citrus Bowl in 2008. I don't bother to bring up the 2000 game against Florida because it was Saban's team and over ten years ago. It makes no difference NOW.

How'd you enjoy UM's bowl games in 2008 and 2009? Heck, how was the Gator Bowl last year? How does Michigan's bowl record over the last 20 years relate to the past three years or this year? And you call me retarded. Did you have your head in the sand while your boy RichRod was the head coach?

And exactly how did your post relate to what you quoted me as saying? I didn't think so. Carry on in delusion land.

Ah, but Michigan never breaks the rules or get caught breaking the rules... Why didn't you just put it the way you mean it... "Ohio State, DON"T CHEAT... Michigan doesn't like competition for the NCAA's time...

By the way, how's that glass house you live in...?

Did I say UM didn't ever violate the rules?
Did UM lie to the NCAA?
Did UM players violate major rules while being under probation?
You can try to pin this on the UM all you want, but a little extra practice time is nothing compared the joke the OSU has made of themselves. If you asked 100,000 people if they had heard about the U of M violating practice rules probably 100 would say yes. If you asked 100,000 people if they had heard about OSU screwing the pooch, 95,000 would say they had. Fact is that U of M broke a stupid rule and paid for it. It didn't directly affect anyone but themselves. OSU violated rules, made a mockery of the Big Ten and the NCAA and directly affected the entire turnout of the season of many teams.

So let me get this straight. You bring up the fact that in the last 3 years MSU has been to a NYD bowl ONE more time than UM and it's relavent, but the fact that for the last 20 years, UM has been there almost exclusively without MSU even on the radar and that's not relative. Just making sure I completely understand your logic here.

It's the most recent. Of course they would have heard about OSU's problems. But the fact remains the NCAA didn't add any additional charges. They'll get slapped on the wrist, and with or without Tressell, they'll still kick Michigan's ass, just like MSU will do. While I certainly would have liked MSU to have been in the Rose Bowl, I don't think OSU's record would have been different without the five or six players identified by the school.

The ONLY reason UM played on NYD last was that there was 5 way tie for 4th place. Iowa, PSU and Northwestern did more to earn the Gator Bowl than UM did. I'll give you a pass on Illinios. The only reason UM got the nod was because UM had a larger fan base. No more, no less. What a fine record on NYD. 7-5? Really?

No, the last 20 years are not relavent to 2011. The last few years have (at least at MSU) the same coaches, players, etc. If you want to play with the past, how many National Championships has UM won since 1950? How many since MSU entered the Big Ten? Just 1?

your post implied greatly that the U of M was mediocre because MSU was in a bowl game on NYD. Whether you like it or not, one more bowl game than UM in the last 3 years on NYD means jack shit. It's all relative.
