Michigan has started so many freshmen in the last three years that arguments about a single recruiting class being the difference in a 8-4 season and a 3-6 season are crazy.

I do agree that a 7-6 season of Hoke's first year would be plenty good, and it's exactly what I expect. Either going 7-5 and losing their bowl or going 6-6 and winning their bowl. With the upcoming schedule what it is, I expect a 7-6 season, and if they go 6-7 I'll be disappointed, and anything worse than that I'd consider a huge let down.

The NCAA limits the amount of freshmen that can be signed by a class. The number is 25. While I'm sure Hoke will get some MAC level talent added to the 12 commitments still hanging around, there are no do overs. He can't sign 15 and then sign 35 next year. I think we can agree that the last two classes haven't been steller defensively. But even this class will be short on offensive talent that was recruited for a different system. While I like Gardner, will he stay sitting behind Shoelace for 2 years only to be bypassed by a pro-style QB? Every coach will tell you how important each recruiting class is, and just not for starters. You need depth in case of injury.

The original question is valid. If UM plays .500 and crashes in three years, will Hoke be held responsible for this year and the last three? If RichRod was only given two real recruiting classes, what will Hoke be allowed? Will the UM slappies be calling for his head? What if Harbaugh gets canned in SF after year three? I know Hoke got a 6 year contract, but so did RichRod.

why on earth would the "organization" be trying to sabotage it's brand new coach? thats beyond silly.

Yeah it is, but it's the truth. There were a lot of pissed off people when Michigan didn't even try to land Miles the last time. Ego and politics make smart people do stupid things.

you're going to have to 'splain this one to me. we're referring to the boosters i assume? how would they affect the first season? i can see their lack of support (i.e.... dollars in recruits pockets) affecting recruiting, but what else do they have their hands in?

boosters have alot to do with recruits, more than you realize

The entire "practice time" scandal would have never see the light of day without the Blue Divide.

There are actually rumors ex-players from the Carr era were actively negative recruiting their own alma mater. I find that hard to believe, but it's out there.

Demar Dorsey was one of the top defensive recruits in the country last year, at a position of need. He was borderline academic with a past off the field issue. Everyone knew this, and RR was given the go ahead to try to bring him in. He did, he was the big name, a big coup. Then the kid actually qualified academically and the board at UM changed their stance and wouldn't let him in. So RR looks like an idiot. He loses face, and he loses a kid that could have started from day one.

The other resources, those are things that are pretty important as well, and it is certain he wasn't getting the full support a school like UM should offer.

I was saying this when it happened its almost like he was forced to fail (RROD) he will be coaching again soon, and Might get the chance for revenge

The Sparty's going crazy in here do realize that they are losing a ton of people. I think ND will be more of a game than MSU for us. Add the fact they now have Nebraska and Ohio State..I think Sparty's 6-6 record to our 8-4 will keep me laughing all year.

You glossed over that depth part. Our last three recruiting classes have been pretty good. We also have a lot of guys returning. The only question for MSU will be who's replacing Greg Jones and Eric Gordon at linebacker? Oh, and who will do the punting? Other than that, the team is fine. MSU will be 8-4 or 9-3. As for UM going 8-4...HAHAHAHAHAHA! Good one...

Your last three recruiting class were still ranked well below ours....I still don't know how you think they are better. After Hoke is done with this years, we will still be ranked higher.

UM has the Old Guard...those who played for Bo, and the New Order who played for Carr. Both sides didn't like the RichRod hire and did him no favors. The Old Guard wanted Les Miles. The New Order wanted a Carr coach. Well, the Carr's have won this round and you have the potential to have the Old Guard piss and moan about this hire behind Hokes back because Brandon didn't seriously look at Miles. Everyone is smiling and holding hands now, but in a couple years I can see the churping starting again.

recruiting class rank doesnt mean shit, look at Texas #1 damn near every year, but they dont go undefeated every year.

So has Michigan posted a better record than Michigan State over those last three years? Let me know how that recruiting is doing for you. How many of those recruits are still in school? Those highly ranked recruits sure do a great job beating Indiana schools, but they sure can't beat anyone else...

The best part? Those seniors recruited in 2008 still have no idea what it feels like to beat MSU or OSU. And they never will.

If Swifster is going off rankings...then its in U of M's favor. The rankings are based on the talent at the time. Now that Michigan has a decent coach, these guys can get developed. Plus you lost a lot more than linebackers. You lost Rucker, Hyde, 3 OL, Gantt and Neely! It looks like mostly freshmen coming in after them. U of M didn't lose much because the guys that were lost, weren't that good to begin with lol. Demens and Fitz were better options than Ezeh and Mouton. All they need is a decent coach and its off to the races.

I am 2-0 with predictions against you. I will call the U of M game next year with a 2 score win. As far as the OSU team, they don't have a chance. Maybe in a few years if the program gets its act together
