He started with a pretty terrible set of recruits IMO. He is FINALLY getting to use his recruits as seniors. You cannot build a championship team in your first season if you're starting with a turd. Also, how can Tressel be "one of the greats" when he turns a blind eye to obvious rule violations???

tressel may cheat , but the dude can coach...dantonio is an average coach , who already had one heart attack ,could you imagine if he went to O$U ,that town would kill him..and look at what his seniors did against a real coach in saban, he was out coached from the coin toss.

Mark, the first three years Dantonio was playing with JLS's kids. He finally gets his players in and they go 11-2. The recruiting is far and above anything JLS did. As for the Alabama game, while I was disappointed, that was the first time Alabama was healthy all year. The defending NC. And before you point fingers about Dantonio's bowl record, go see when Schembechler won his first bowl game. 15 years? But it's OK, MSU is happy with him and that's all that matters...

Let OSU go after Brady Hoke...

let them go for hoke , he has not one a dam game yet, and with you logic it does not matter what hoke record would be ,cause he will be using most of RR kids lol cmon if you really think that Dantonio is a good coach good for you but ill just say your delusional. And he played kids he recruited , and if i recall he has had some pretty good QBs, i guess we can agree to disgree about him being a great coach..

Mark, I'm not saying he hasn't had his own players, but the first two or three years, the players were either recruited by JLS or were freshmen/sophmores. Until last year, the team really didn't have any depth. Now if a player gets hurt, there is a decent player to take his place. We've had two QB's since Dantonio became coach; Brian Hoyer and Kirk Cousins. The best QB yet will be Andrew Maxwell who will start next year as a Jr. The defense had to be rebuilt, and the OL is still thin. It takes time to rebuild a train wreck. You'll get to see this over the next few years.

The overall schedule is far tougher than it was the last two years with OSU and Nebraska on the schedule. Notre Dame will be better and we won't have Illinois or Purdue to beat up. The team could well be better overall than 2010, but may only finish 9-3. By the way, it's easy to say Saban outcoached Dantonio when Alabama had 4 players drafted in the 1st Round of the NFL draft where as MSU had two guys drafted...total.

ill make sure to use all those excuse when/if hoke sucks lol ..

You think the StinkBears will win more than 5 games this year? You think they'll beat Nebraska, OSU, MSU or Notre Dame?
it will be tough , wont beat neb they will win the big ten, osu, msu and notre dame toss up. they should win two of those,

I doubt they'll win any of those games. I'm in agreement with Nebraska winning the B1G. Changing systems back to from the spead won't be easy with a fragile QB, receivers that can't catch, no running backs and no defense. You'll fight Minnesota for the basement.

cmon osu will loose a ton of talent and will have very little to play for, msu who knows , notre dame wont be better than last year,, Mich will be much improved ,will that equal wins? we shall see ,a lot of returning player and the freshman got a ton of playing time and now they have a real d cord..college ball cant get here fast enough

Why would OSU lose talent? Notre Dame worries ME. And MSU has less to worry about. I think your defense will be marginally better due to the DC, but talent is talent and UM doesn't have any. The offense was built for a spread system. Now it's going to a pro style system. Hoke will need 3 years to right the ship.

Where do you come up with this stuff? Nebraska is a shoo in for champ in my opinion, so I agree there. Look at the rest:

ND: Their Defense is going to make the Steelers look like a group of 3rd graders. They are good, if not the best in the nation. Their offense is going to be hurting bad. Their QB is fresh out of the high school ranks, and while impressive, we've seen what can happen to High School talent that comes in too praised. They aren't going to have Floyd. This is the biggest thing. Without Floyd, it'll be a much different game.

MSU: Do we really need to relive how wrong you've been about predictions of the Spartans? MSU will be glad to get out of this coming season with only 3 losses. Your defense will be lucky to outshine last years Michigan Defense since you've pretty much lost the entire secondary and linebackers. Offense you could be pretty interesting. Cousins and the clan will put up impressive numbers, but when you factor in Michigan/Michigan State always being a toss up, it all boils down to who has more to lose? MSU will come out of this game a loser. Just like they did against a subpar Alabama team. Dantonio will hope to make a decent bowl game this year, but there's no BCS run in it for MSU this year.

OSU: Who knows what the hell will happen with them. I give them a 3 or 4 loss season, but being that UM plays them late, there's just too much to have progress between now and then for both teams.

Don't forget. Michigan still has almost the entire team from last year. While that may not be saying a lot about the Defense, the prediction is that our Defense couldn't get any worse. I think we'll get 7 wins again this year and make it to the same style toilet bowl that MSU goes to.

Here is my question - who wants to coach a team with possible major sanctions coming their way????

Subpar Alabama? What was Mississippi State? The secondary is fine and so is the LB'ing. The replacements have contributed in the past and will be fine. The secondary may actually be better. The DL will be awesome and will make B1G quarterbacks eat a lot of turf. The only real worry is the OL. A little experience and even that won't be a weekness. Our schedule does have two stronger teams on it that we didn't play; OSU and Nebraska and both are on the road. Will we go 11-1? I'm certainly not expecting it. I'd think 9-3 will be a good season.

As for UM winning 7 games, who are they going to beat? They probably be 2-2 after losing to ND and SDSU. There are 4 teams in the Leaders Division better than UM (I'll give you Minnesota) and you should beat Illinois and Purdue. That's 5 wins. I'll say the SDSU game might be a toss up which would make UM 6-6 with a possible spot in the Flea Bag Bowl. Is that where you might get win #7?

This is an early prediction. With changes in team and injuries etc... this will change, but as things sit now, here's what I see as their schedule.

Sep 3: vs. WMU - Home - W
Sep 10: vs. ND - Home - L
Sep 17: vs. EMU - Home - W
Sep 24: vs. SDSU - Home - W
Oct 1: vs. MN - Home - W
Oct 8: vs. NW - Away - W
Oct 15 vs. MSU - Away - W
Oct 29 vs. Purdue - Home - W
Nov 5 vs. IA - Away - L
Nov 12 vs. IL - Away - L
Nov 19 vs. Neb - Home - L
Nov 26 vs. OSU - Home - W

8 - 4

Even Bleacher Report says that UM has the potential to pull off 9 wins. They said worst case is 5 wins, but that's not a reality just like 9 wins isn't in my opinion.

Northwestern and MSU are both better teams and they are both road games. I don't see UM beating either team. Both QB's (Persa and Cousins) will have well over 300+ yards against the UM secondary.
