Upon looking at the camp map, I immidiatelly like spots 63-65, 143-145, 131-133. Just throwing that out there. I dont think you have to tent camp only where it says on that map, I think they will let you tent whatever spot you want. If so, clearly the best bet are those back spots 143-145 next to those cabins.

But keep in mind, we'd wake up the entire campground driving all the way to the back.

I'm not worried about waking the campground. It will be the week of the auto show, so they will be expecting it. As for camping only where it specifies tents, I don't know. We can check on that. John, let's start to get a "good" number of who is coming. The registration for next year is already open and don't want to miss out on this and be stuck in Straits State Park 10 feet from the troopers station. Even if we get a couple spots and a cabin and let everyone else fend for themself it would be better to be able to party in the back and not be fearful of getting in trouble.

Well with that said I vote for those back spots (143-145) if we can tent camp on them. Do you know what the cabins cost?

In...camping in a tent.

Site Type 2 Person Rate Range With Value Kard!
RV Campsite $36.00 - 42.00 $32.40 - 37.80
Tent $26.00 $23.40
Kamping Kabins $55.00 - 70.00 $49.50 - 63.00

Ryan, the cabins with A/C and heat are considered KOA "Lodges" and "Cottages". Not sure if the St Ignace location has those. We'd have to call. But i'm gonna bet not. $70 is probably for a 2 room regular cabin. If the cabins have electrical outlets that would be huuge. Otherwise i'm in for a tent site with electrical so I can bring my heater and laptop.

I'm not sure how standardized the KOA's are. When we were in Port Huron last weekend. We had a Kabin. It had power and AC/Heat. The Lodges had extra things including more rooms and amenities.

I'm in for next year. I'd probably sleep in a tent vs a cabin/hotel.

I just figured that out! LOL

So we have

Tent:

Al
Ryan
John
Brian (assuming he won't get a cabin with Renee, but could be wrong)
Adam
Bob

Cabin:

Frank
Katy
Katy's friend.

Realize that we can get up to 6 people if not more (air mattress) in the kabin, so that price of 70 isn't bad at all when it gets split up.

Nick, Rick, Jacko, Rob and his gang need to give us a tenative "coming or not"

We also need to find out if we can reserve specific spots/cabins like you can with a state park. They might not let us pick what we want.

pretty sure you can. Do you want me to call around and find this stuff out or do you?

you can, do a search for michigan dnr. Look up the campground, select the dates, select the spot you want.

Yea I know you can do that for state parks, we did it last year. I'm talking about private ones like KOA ect. Those bastards at Mill Creek would never let us lock down any spots, they assigned them when we got there.
