So I'm real close to buying a CPO'd 2016 300c Platinum (13,500 miles) at a Chy/Jeep/Dodge dealer. I offer 1000.00 less than advertised which they except. When I ask for an "out the door" price, it seems approx 500.00 more than I figured out. I asked for a line item breakdown and it goes like this.

26,490.00 Car
6% tax (Yep)
200.00 doc fees (I told them I'd split it..100.00)
299.00 "theft insurance.(laser etching Vin on all windows)(hasn't even been done yet)
8.00 transfer fee (OK)
15.00 title transfer fee (OK)

I told sales gal, forget the "Theft insurance etching" & 100.00 of doc fees. I'm waiting for her to get back to me.

I'm in NO rush to buy anything so what say you guys?

George

I've never paid more than $50 for doc fees. To me, it's the cost the dealer assumes for being in business. The dealers here in Florida want $700 for doc fees. I have no problem flying home to Detroit to buy a car.

Yeah that laser etching can go right out the window... You don't need it... Doc fees no because that's the cost of doing business why should you pay it?

I've pretty much told them my bottom line, no doc fees & a big F U on the etching. I'm going to look at a couple of low mileage 2016 SHO's next week & some EDGE Sport's as well. Hell I've seen some local TV car adds that specify "NO DOC FEES".

Main things to me are, AWD, Memory seats, Heated & cooled seats, Heated Str Wheel & all the other goodies. I didn't know the loaded SHOs had all those goodies. Plus I could get a Livernois s tune on SHOs & Edge Sports. Not a lot out there for Pentastar V6s

Thanks for your inputs guys.

I'll have to see if I can fit in a Fusion, (limited mobility) My neighbor has a new Titanium model I'll try it. Who can get me an A/Z plan thingy? (needed for new 2017 Fusion Sports)

Lots of 2015-2016 SHOs around as well. Fawkers are about 300 lbs heavier than my CTS-V coupe WTF?

I would assume Livernois would be the 1st stop for either SHO or Fusion Sport.

Thanks guys

I think GM allows up to $180 for dealer documentation fees when you use employee pricing. It's the only place that they can make money off you besides the sale of the vehicle.

If someone wants more than that, they're way too damn inefficient. The LaFontaine Buick GMC in Ann Arbor takes the better part of a day to buy a vehicle (9am to 4pm for me) but at Chelsea Chevrolet Buick the longest it ever took me was 40 minutes. I would not take a vehicle to Chelsea Chevrolet Buick for service though. I have plenty of bad things to say about their service department.

Varsity was the 1st place I searched for used Edge Sports, Sho's etc. Their new 2017 Fusion sports don't have the equipment I want.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Opened my eyes to other options..= always good :)

Yah, tried a Fusion Titanium today, I little snug getting in & out (beautiful inside though). I can get in & out of Escape/MKC, Edge/MKX pretty easy. 300Cs (Premium) are very easy in/out & very roomy inside with all the bells & whistles. Lincoln MKc & MKx (Premium) have all the stuff as well. 2.3l eboost awd a must.

Varsity Lincoln has a few of each (CPO) 2016/17's (so no need for "X" plan thanks Matt) I'll spend a few hours over there tomorrow.

Thanks for the help guys.

So I tried the SHO's, too tight getting in with my bum right leg. MKc/Escape, tough but doable. edge Sport MKx good. Terrain Denali very good, need V6 for sure.

Varsity Lincoln had a fantastic selection, just more than I want to spend right now.

On another note CHAMPION Jeep/Dodge in Lansing, STAY THE HELL AWAY. Not upfront on stuff. I was about to drive out to sign a deal & they sent a few "OH by the way pictures", (big scrape/scuff on front fender) (Not the OLD, "It'll buff out joke"). This process is getting frustrating.
