ok, since im wanting to get a 4.11 gearset, i need to know what rear end my camaro has. all i know is that its from a 94 TA and is a 10 bolt. So what the hell do i have and what is the stock ratio for that particular differential, or would 4.11 be a bad choice for a daily driver? if so, any suggestions that wouldnt make my DD horrible on gas?

and 4.11 eh? haha that'd be a 4.10.. I've got a 3.73 and I think it's the perfect gear set. good on the expressway still, still plenty of material for the weak 10 bolt.. Depends also if it's a auto/manual also though

To figure out your current gearset you just need to make one revolution with the axel or wheel & count how many revolutions the pinion or driveshaft makes.

4.1 revolutions of the pinion to 1 revolution of the axle = 4.10 gearset

There were only 2 factory gears offered with the automatic, 3.23 or 2.73. The stick cars had 3.42. I'd go with a 3.73 with the auto or the 4.10 with the 6 spd.

430 fro a 6 speed you got 2 over drives 410 for a 5 speed

^what he said.

Look at the sticker in your drivers door. Find the code GU-something. If I can recall: GU2=2.73 GU5=3.23 GU6=3.42

Another easy way to tell, if you are an automatic, if you cannot shift maually into 1st gear than you have a 2.73. The 1st gear selection gets blocked out and the lowest you can go is 2nd.

My reccomendations, 3.73 for auto, 4.10 for 6 spd.

Not even sure they make 430 gears for a 10 bolt, and it would be overkill anyways. 4.10 is almost overkill. LT1's make alot of touque they dont need that much gear.

Agreeing with everyone
Manual-4.10 Auto 3.73
I would also suggest getting a Girdle and an Eaton Posi unit while your in there
just my .02

thanks for the advice guys, now where would be some good places to get the parts i need?

btw, its an auto

I bought all my stuff used and have had great luck with it. Gears used off egay, and im sure you could find a girdle and low mileage posi too. Have someone very good (reputable) at installing rear gears do it.

Also some shops may not even install anything unless its their parts. Check into it first.

3.73...FTW!!:D

3.73 gives you over 120mph in the 1/4 mile in third gear with an auto, 4th with a stick. A 4.10 will only get you around 110. this all assuming a 26" tire and 6000 rpm rev limit and enuff power...

Get sticky tires, that's all I say(along with the above...)

I'd say have it rebuilt with the gears if your not going crazy with a sticky set of tires and high(er) power. Otherwise I'd say up grade. My factory auburn f-body posi lasted about 1.5 hard hard (28/10.5 slick once a week hard) years.

I posted your location so these guys would understand that you going to be looking anywhere around for work or products.

I dont know if you have a converter or not, but I would do one. The gears will make you feel faster, but you won't be.
