95 mustang gt , ended up getting a new rack and pinion today and me and a friend installed it ( old ones seals blew out ) , got a new rack and new outer tie rod ends , have it all installed and im wondering if theres a way to bleed the air out ? , im getting some bubles coming out of the rez but not as much as i would think should have came out , and the pump is noisy as shit the second i even think about moving the steering wheel ( turned the wheel back and fourth for about 20mins straight ) the wheel moves nice and easy but the damn pump isnt happy for some reason .,. any ideas ?

also theres a creaking noise coming from the suspension some ware while turning the wheel ( it creaked with the old rack in it ) i just assumed the noise was because of the blown out seals in the old rack , lower ball joints ? brake caliper slides ? , any other ideas ?

how long did you drive on the leak?

Front creak: are there spring isolators on top and bottom?

it was a small leak , i just kept it topped off with fluid , ive only had the car a month maybe and it sat for a year prior to me buying it . . . i know the car has tokico red springs and tokico blue struts , not sure if the isolators are there thow , ill give it a look tomorrow if the weather is decent enuff , thanks

Bleed by going stop to stop with engine off, then start and turn lock to lock, try to do this with front wheels off the ground. Also hold it against the lock for a second on both sides. If that doesn't work you either have a bad pump, or need to vac the air out with a mighty vac.

x2

as fpr the creak, its a rusty joint, since you replaced the tie rod ends, I will say its a ball joint

I always start the motor and shut it off a couple times that circulates fluid through the rack also but wait to start it again till the fluid is back to normal and not airrated if you kept turning it while the fluid was foamy then you could have burned up the pump if you kept working it while there was no fluid in it

ok so i got my power steering pump happy ( it let out a huge burp of air ) and figured out its deffinatly my lower ball joints that are creaking ............... last question i swear lol

my idle is set around 7k-7.5k rpm , once it goes in drive it chokes down to about 5-5.5k rpm and sometimes will stall out while coming to a red light or stop sign , usually what i do is throw it in neutral to keep it from stalling , and it almost always dies when in drive and i turn the wheel so if im doing a slow turn i have to 2 foot it to keep it from stalling ,., ive set my idle at about 8.5-9k rpm and it still does the same thing , ideas ?

Did you use the idle reset procedure? I know you can find it if you google, i forget it right off hand. Also if you IAC valve is dirty or bad it will do the same thing. Take it off and use a GOOD quality cleaner and make sure the passages in hte intake are clean too. New valves are easily had if that ones bad.

did not use the reset , didnt know there was one lol , ill look into it thow , ill also look into the IAC , thanks again man

im seriously about to burn this damn car , went to my moms earlier and the car hesitated to start but did on the 2nd try , went to leave my moms and the car wouldnt start , after about 30 times of trying it and an almost dead battery it finally started ,., step dad told me it was the TFI , sound right ? , it drove fine the 5min car ride home thow and started right back up once i shut it off , thats the only part of the ignition i havent replaced so i guess it makes sence ( i did check for spark while trying to start it and there was none ) ... he also said something about a main relay that can shut the computer down or some crap , any ideas what hes talking about ?

had a min today to try and fix it , how the hell do i get the TFI out ? mines the one on the passanger side inner fender , it looks like theres 2 screws holding it in the heat sink but i cant see what kind of screws , what the hell are they ?

thanks man , it ended up being 2 8mm bolts to unscrew the heat sink from the fender and 2 5.5mm bolts to unscrew the ICM from the heat sink , she runs again thow , . , anyone know if im going to have to re do the timing ? car just doesnt seem to have the balls it use to , at idle it runs a whole lot better thow , more smooth , ill check to see ware my timing is at tomorrow thow just in case
