Yeah, the Big 10 is a real tough conference

Going about like I expected so far. There are actually two good teams in the Big 10 (UM and OSU). But for the people that said the Big 10 is tougher than the SEC....... :pow:

Yeah that was a tough loss. FWIW, no other conference has more teams in bowls than the SEC....3-1 so far.....and BTW, the Big10 is 0-3 so far.

You do realize that there is the possibility of OSU, Mi, and Wi ending up
1,2,3 ranked still?

That would be awesome if that did happen, but somehow the Big Ten still wouldn't get much respect if it did. :dontknow:

Only people in Big 10 country think and say that.

SEC is too fast for the Big 10.

What the hell happened to Minnesota? They gave up the biggest comeback in bowl history! Idiots. At least Iowa looked pretty good against Texas which on paper was a huge mismatch. I, too, am concerned about the Big 10's 0-3 start to the bowl season. Still, all the biggest bowl games are still to go and there are 3 head to head Big 10 vs SEC matchups still to be played so I guess we'll see how some of the Big 10's best stack up against some of the SEC's best.

As for the Big 10 vs. SEC head to head, I know there have been a lot of matchups in bowls over the last 10 years. I have no idea what the records are against each other. I'll see if I can find some historical data.

Definitely a good chance for MI, OSU, and Wisc to win and save some face for the Big 10. Some good head-to-head matches coming too.

Tenn vs PSU
Arkansas vs Wisc

LSU will slaughter Notre Dame IMO. Just setting the record straight for all the whiners saying how UM should have beat out Florida in the polls. The SEC is the most difficult conference in football right now. I believe this is the reason FLA got the nod over UM for the title game.

What was that about the SEC? :icon_mrgr

that would do a heck of a lot more than save face....IF(a pretty big if) the big ten was to win out, you'd have the top four teams in their conference beating the sec champ, the sec runner-up, the pac ten champ, and a third sec team(tenn.)....that, and a freaking 6 and 6 iowa team that took a 2 loss texas team to the wire....after watching auburn take a gift from nebraska earlier, i'm even less impressed with the sec than i was before watching a decent but very flawed florida team win the conference.....they are a very GOOD conference, with a ton of young talent, but they have been collectively inconsistent from the start of the year when usc beat the razorbacks by 30+ in arkansas, to when the other usc botched an extra point and a field goal to hand an outplayed and outcoached florida team a win in florida.....

Yeah good come back today. Wisconsin really did a good job of containing the Arkansas attack. Peen State won, but it was pretty much on luck. really a game of inches sometimes. There were a lot of really questionable calls in that game too (for both sides). It was tough for me to watch.

Anyhow, this thread is about how the two conferences compare, not one or two games. UM did not do much to convince me today, but the way USC played, I doubt anyone could have beat them. They just could do no wrong.

They just plain kicked our asses on the line on both sides of the ball.
How they lost to UCLA and we scored so many points against Ohio State
I'll never know. Sheesh!

Wait a sec, Wisconsin gets kudo's for doing a good job of containing the attack, but Penn State wins by luck?! Penn State held Tenn to under 100 yards rushing and their lowest point total of the season! I'd have to attribute it to Penn State having 1 of the best group of linebackers in the country. Big 10 teams typically play great defense and score enough point to win. That's exactly what they did.

As for it being a game of inches, I'll have to disagree there too. More like a game of 160 yards...by 1 running back. If Tenn doesn't stop the run the passing game opens wide up.

If you still think it's luck...I can't make you think otherwise. But please, next time you win a drag race by a few inches, be sure to tell the sponsors, fans and magazine writers, "that it was luck"

What I meant by luck was that Tenn was pushing in for an almost certain score, then the fumble. Six more inches and he is down. Also, the ball came out right to the PSU player and he was competely unimpeded all the way for the score. You have to admit that is some luck. Bad kid for UT, and good kind for PSU. Either way, PSU played much better than UT. There is a good chance they win without the funble.

i agree that too much is put into the bowl games.....for one, there can be up to eight weeks off for some teams between games...that's enough time for some teams to get backs players that were gone with season ending injuries, and for other players(think reggie ball) to become academically ineligable....and for northern teams, pretty much every bowl that means anything will be played in the south for obvious reasons....

but still, this is the only head to head competition you will see between the sec and the big ten....and the weak big ten 2-0 head to head....

as far as michigan and usc, when has michigan gone out west and played well in recent memory? some(a few) in the media are trying to read into it, saying that osu is in trouble now, or that even usc would beat osu, but the reality is that michigan is a different team when they travel west.....
