YAGT S&W 38 Special

My wife is looking for a revolver for home protection and something to carry when we go for our CCWs next year.

There's a Smith & Weston 38 special with the 4" barrel available locally. Would this make a decent gun for her? Anything bad about this make and/or model?

Thoughts? Don't bother with the usual "shotgun is the best reply for home protection", she isn't comfortable with rifles/shotguns. Thanks.

...Would this make a decent gun for her?...

I can't offer up too much about wheel guns, but if she truly wants a revolver, at least have her visit a gun range that "rents" handguns. That way she can see shoot a few different revolver makes/models and find one that feels comfortable in her hands.

Just some food for thought.

Smith & Wesson Model 642 Airweight Subcompact Revolver (hammerless) .38 special... that's what my wife carries and she loves it... or if all else fails a 50 cal degal will do the trick ;)

definitely have her go to the range and handle a dozen or so guns... narrow it down to 2 or 3 that she likes and have her shoot those. Don't spend money on a gun that she's never tried, only to find out that it doesn't fit her hand properly or something like that...
