This train was VERY long...maybe 50-100 of these giant things? They are two train cars long each.

Any idea what they are?

yeah, it is definitely crazy to see the blades being transported. Look so much bigger that way than when they are assembled.

Committed environmentalists should know those blades cause a virtual bird holocaust. Now you see why, at that size.

I could give 2 shits about birds, if it means my power bill goes down!

I know. I'm kidding. It's just amusing that wackjobs think these things are environmentally friendly, but the fields below them look like a Tyson factory that hasn't been cleaned in a year...

LOL!! I saw that same train in downtown Milford on my way home today and took video with my phone to show the family. I was shocked at how big they were!!

Yeah those are wind turbine blades. Seen a bunch of them going across 696 early this year. I heard they are putting a bunch up in the thumb area.

As for the birds, these don't spin that fast. I can't imagine that they take out too many. I noticed a HUGE new one passing through cleveland a few weeks ago. It was just on the other side of the downtown heading East. Way bigger than the one they have in front of the Science Center on the lake there. They are neat to watch.

They were trucking those on EB 696 late last fall. I saw several over the course ob 3 or 4 weeks. People were literally stopping on the expressway to look at them as they were being trucked. They are huge, expecially as you are driving by them and they take up a lane and a half......

They kill at a minimum tens of thousands a year, including ones as small as bats and ones as big as birds of prey. I have a really hard time believing it's that low considering how many crash into virtually every other tall object.

Blades that big don't have to turn fast when this flies through it:

Cmon have you been to ubly?? u cant hear them

When I was out there last fall, when the racing stopped, you could hear a slight "thumping" sound from them. I've never been up close, but I'm sure it's pretty loud. I'm all for finding another way to harness the earths resources.

Yes they are huge, you should see the wind farm along I80 in western Wyoming near Evanston. At night they have these killer bright red warning lights that you see for over 80 miles away, It makes them look like a swarm of fire fly's.
