WTB: Tow Dolly

I have purchased used Demco's for $400 & $750,
depending on the model.

One of those used one's I posted the guy was
only asking $470 for it.

I believe Uhaul is one of the few places that rents
those.

I saw that one but it looked like its in terrible condition. I just passed it over.

Sorry about that, I didn't really look at the ads closely.

It did take me sometime to find a good deal on a used
Demco car dolly.

Is there anyone you car borrow one from? Or is renting
one an option? Is this a one-time use deal?

*Warning* - to own one of these things means always
lending it out, I think others used mine more than me

I ended up renting a trailer from uhaul. I had one years ago and loaned it to a buddy. It was stolen from his house. Still pissed about it.

I need to buy one. In my business I have to transport cars and some have plates (wither or not they're good or not) and some don't. I don't have the room to store my flatbed trailer at my store.

For what its worth, I bought both my Demco car dolly's used
and kept them for many years and sold both for what I paid
for them. Demco is a well known top quality "Kar Kaddy".

Kind of a side topic, but how do dollies do towing larger vehicles? Like a full size bronco?

I've towed Full size trucks on a tow dolly with no problem. But when you're shopping for one you have to make sure you buy a wide one. Most of the one's I see for sale will only hold a mid size vehicle.

The type of vehicle used to haul the disabled vehicle will be more important especially with higher load out back.

I tried to tow dolly a s10 Blaxer with a S10 Jimmy. It didn't go well...lol

No where near enough brakes to do this. Blew through a few lights on Telegraph one night. In hindsight, I probably should have slowed down. But, hey whats the fun in that?

Do some dolleys have brakes? And you have to pull driveshafts also don’t you[

I should've mentioned the dolly I used to have had brakes. That helps a lot especially with a heavier load. Whenever I pulled something with rear wheel drive I pulled the driveshaft.

This is why I recommended purchasing a quality tow dolly
like a Demco, which is considered a "top-of-the-line".

One of my Demco's had brakes, worked great, for that matter so
did the one without. And yes, they both towed a full-size vehicle
no problem.

Thanks for the info. Right now the tow vehicle would be a 07 Expedition and at some point replaced with an F-150. The Bronco is a manual trans with manual transfer case so I if do end up with a dolly I would probably just put both in neutral. Leaning more towards a trailer though.

I used a reg cab short bed S-10 to tow dolly another S-10 from Boston. Took it slow and it was fine. I haven't pulled axes in RWD vehicles, I always just leave them in neutral. If you pull the axle how do you keep the trans from dumping fluid out? How is it any better than leaving it in neutral?

When you say axle, do you mean driveshaft? Not trying to be a jerk.
