I'm looking for a TIG welder. I dont really care what brand, but looking for something complete with torch, cart, gas bottle ect. Also needs to be somewhat portable and fit in a smaller garage. Let me know if you have anything or if you can get a deal on a new one.

I bought mine off ebay. Was a local place that sold it so I went and picked it up. I ended up buying a Lincoln precision tig 185 I had to buy the bottle but it came with a water cooled torch.

That's what I picked up on here from jamesr. But my torch is air cooled. It works great and a air cooled torch isn't that bad unless you plan on welding full juice for hrs at a time.

I was hoping to spend @ or under 1k. I've been reading reviews on the Everlast 185 micro and The Eastwood 200. Both are AC/DC and have the ability to run on 110/220 which would be a nice feature to have. Some people say they are great and work as good as Millers and other people say they are junk. So I dont know which way to go. I only plan on doing light work with them, like exhaust tubing and whatnot.

I'd go look at that 180SD. Decent price if it's turnkey. See if he moves a little on price. I scored my bigass Syncrowave250 for $975 with 3 extra torches, and no tank, but that back in the TRadin' Times days and shit was always in the wrong section. I found it at 11AM on a Sunday, and had it home by 2..

If that SD comes with an 80CF or smaller tank trade up to a 120cf tank. I think it's the biggest one you can own/exchange outright, and Wilson, the price to fill is $5 or so more than the 80CF tank..

Good luck. I loves my TIG.... and my MIG.. and my plasma..... :D..

I have a water cooled TIG welder for sale for $1k or best offer, but it's exactly the opposite of small and portable.

Well I suppose I dont need one I can throw over my shoulder and carry around, but If I need a cherry picker and a truck to move it from one end of the garage to the other then it may be a bit large lol. What is it that you have?

I talked to the guy and it comes with the Torch, Bottle ect. I got him down to 1k on it. Think thats a good deal?

i bought one of these, they are a very good price for everything it does. $1649.99 jody from welding tips and tricks uses it.

That is actually the best deal on this in this thread. Its a shame it's only 250 amps, but other then that it's got a TON of great features for someone looking to weld at home. Has a lot of great features a pro machine would use. I'd like to know where I could try one out.

I've actually read alot of negative about the Everlast welders. Makes me leary even buying one. I do like the Everlast 185 Micro though. Can get it for 900 but I dont think it comes with a foot pedal, and I really want one.

Bummer, I'd like to test that welder out. It "sounds" nice. It has all the features of our $16,000 welders, but a 1/3 the amp capacity. IMO you cannot go wrong with an older miller syncrowave 200/250, if you don't plan on welding anything thicker then really a 1/2 inch. Which it sounds like you'll never get close to welding that thick for what you described wanting to do.

Either miller in the cl adds would be great for what you are looking for. They will do up to 1/4 just fine. I prefer a Lincoln machine over miller any day. Idk they just seem to have a much smoother arc and I've welder pop cans together side by side several times with a Lincoln but always seemed to have trouble with the millers until I used a dynasty 350 ($6000+) machine that has very fine tuning controls. But any 180amp plus machine will do you well!

Dynasty 700 :)

We got a new Lincoln today and set it up. The loaner we had worked beautiful. They take the loaner back and hook up our purchased one, I cursed the machine for a couple hours and almost "accidentally" destroyed it. Something could have fallen on it from the crane lol. Ended up just moving it out of the way and hooking the Dynasty back up.
