Not true. TBI heads have the swirl things in the ports. The l98 heads dont

Only the aluminum l98 head have no swirl inducers. I will poke around. Do you need the 5.0 or 5.7 heads ?

still not true.

I think they are casting 083 and a sweet upgrade to a tbi engine.
Found on 350 f body with tpi. You can also use the marine(#217) heads but they have the 3/8 hd exhuast valves

intake ports are identical on the 083 heads to the aluminum ones. the iron one flow better due to the bigger combustion chmber that unshrouds the valves.

were they a limited run deal ?? becuase i have yet to see a set that don't have swirl inducers. ethier way I think i know where a set maybe at i will check into it. If you are after the 083 casting being how crack prone 80's era heads were i doubt turning up a good set will be easy. Here is the catch If i find a set be prepared to spend some $$$ to fix them. Might be better off looking for a different set off heads ?

They did make them for a couple years before they went to the LT1. There is a big difference in the intake port size. But I found a set of 113 aluminum heads so I'm set.

Sean,

083 heads were used a 87ish-91 f bodies and the 350 285hp crate egnine from the early 90's you can still buy the heads here right form GM
http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/3129/products/143/HP-TBI-SB-Chevrolet-Cast-Iron-Cylinder-Head.htm the 217 are identical but have 3/8 valves and hardend seat inserts for the boats

youd never know the difference if you didnt take the intake valve out.

wierd thing is you can put the non swirl heads in place of a swirl port head and pickup power but put a swirl port head in place of a non swirl port heads and usually pickup some spark knock.
