WTB: Heavy Duty Bench Top /Pedestal Grinder

Looking for a good running, heavy duty, 6-8" bench top or pedestal grinder. Must be 110, single phase. Post pics up here, thanks.
 
It will depend on the grinder, there are so many different manufacturers and process out there. What do you have?
 
I use a delta and its held up pretty well. New they are about $120 locally. Couldn't find a comparable unit.

I have a 10 inch baldor right now , way overkill for home garage, I usually come across smaller home units weekly gimme a ball park price range and ill find one in my travels
 
I have this setup you can have for $200. Its older, heavy duty quality stuff

My 6", 3/4 hp bench grinder had a wire wheel on it as well, but the wire wheel drags down when trying to remove pan gasket material, clean up threads on bolts and such. That is why I think I need Stu least a 1hp motor.

who makes it? Theres a huge difference between old 1/2 HP rated grinders and newer 3/4 hp grinders My "1hp" baldor pulls 5.4 amp

look at the ones darko pulled 6.6 amp for a 1/2 HP motor,
 
110V. It's old but works fine. Was used at my work for years until they upgraded to a larger diameter. Not sure of make since tag is worn. I just plugged it in and fired it up. $60 bucks and it's yours.


 
I'm guessing it to be a Harbor Freight special, no name on it. It's a 6", 3/4hp, 110v, single phase, 60Hrz, 3,450 rpm's.

Ideally, I would like something that has open wheels, with enough torque to do the job listed above.

Are you sure about your numbers? On the site, they only claim 1/5hp.
do you have, or know about the grinder you linked?

I think i have the same grinder as soon2b8. I think mone came from Wholesale Tool in Warren, aka OG Harbor Freight style import tool shop.

those arent my numbers, theres no regulation in electric motor ratings, if you do the math alot of these claimed 1 hp grinders arent 1hp,
 
my baldor is rated at 5.4 amps at 115volts


using the formula

Volts x amps = watts and 746 watts = 1 horse power

5.4x115= 621 watts but efficency of motor affects this, its hard to get accurate numbers of motor effiecency



Most motors are rated using "Peak HP consumed" which is much higher than "true continuous HP". Peak HP should not be used in reality since it is mostly a marketing gimmick.
