WTB: Early 2000's 5.3L or 4.8L Vortec - Silverado/Sierra

Hello, I'm looking for a early 2000's 5.3L or 4.8L Vortec engine for my buddy's Silverado. He just traded his car for a work truck and a few days later the bottom end started knocking. Prefer a complete engine or long block. Not looking for anything crazy, just something reliable to get him from point A to point B.

The early LS's are known for piston slap and noisy cold startup.. and they run forever. I would make sure it's serious before doing anything. If so go to www.car-part.com and search the local parts yards or get with Darko from Pacific Motors, he's always got something laying around.

buddys burbam has been slapping for a while,

My old burban did it from day one, as far as I know its still doing it and lt1pat has over 200k on it. Body is rusted to helll but truck runs great, best AC in a car ive ever seen
 
His truck is pretty quiet at first, but once the oil warms up after a few minutes of running it starts knocking like the police are at the front door. The trucks not in bad shape so if we can put a engine in it cheap enough it's worth it in my opinion - at least he knows what he's got instead of starting with another truck.
