Would you say the 7th gen T-Bird, was perhaps the biggest muscle car of all time?

1972-76 Thunderbird

Just always had this thought when seeing Jack Cassidy chase Clint Eastwood in The Eiger Sanction (1975).:naughty:

The best engine was 212 horsepower. It is big - car weighed about 4600# without driver. Ran 18s in the quarter, zero to 60 in about 10 seconds. I'd just call it a big luxurious two door.

I guess it depends on your definition of 'muscle car'. Just because a car has a big engine doesn't make it a muscle car. I consider a 'muscle car' a stripped down, bare bones car with a big engine from the factory. Like the 1968 roadrunner when it came out. It was basically a Belvedere, (the lowest trimmed B-body) and your only engine options were the standard 383 4bbl, or the 426 Hemi. 1968 Dodge super bee was the same way

1949-1971 American full-size muscle models, the '62-64 R-code Galaxies are in the running.

Stretching the traditional definition of muscle cars, long wheelbase Duesenbergs are massive.

Pontiac 2+2 and Ford Thunderbird were fatties, and I think the Lincoln Continental Mark IV was close to 5000lbs. They're not really much of muscle cars though.

The Thunderbird was Fords answer to the Chevrolet's Corvette and its engines were always the top of the line for Ford until the mustang came along
56/57 bird had a McCulloch super-charged 312 rated at 300 hp
there was also a 285 hp version with 2 4 barrel carbs
63 m code 390 with 3x2 barrel Holley carbs rated at 345
67 bird 428/345 hp
68 69 70 Thunderbird's had the 429 thunder jet engine rated at 360 hp

so yea the Thunderbird is a muscle car

About 12 years ago a me and a friend flew down to Texas, he bought a 67 fury fastback, 440 Magnum, 4 speed, with a Dana rear & 3.91 posi. Real low mileage car with one repaint. We drove it back from Texas, that was a fun road trip, and that car is probably one of the biggest muscle cars built.

Keep in mind the OP referenced "1972-76 Thunderbird", as did I.

A good friend of mine has a 57 T-Bird sitting in his garage, its been
there, untouched for almost 40 years!
