Work Commute - Average speed

Full reconstruction

Whew. That will tie things up for awhile. They just did 13 Mile by my house, started in November last year and finished a few weeks ago. I had tons of traffic in my neighborhood. The Warren PD were camping out on Masonic catching the people going 2 at a time through the stop signs.

Seems like it's getting worse. More cars on the road and I'm catching way more lights.

Used to be 25 mins to go 15 miles.

This week and last week it has taken me 40-45 minutes to get there.

It will remain 4 lanes between M-53 and Garfield and 1 lane will be added between Garfield and Romeo Plank (for a total of 4 lanes).

Good to hear one added lane between Garfield and Romeo Plank will solve the traffic problem on m59....

Nothing can solve the traffic problem on M-59. Way to many drives, traffic signals and crossovers to promote effective traffic flow.

The worst point on M-59 is East bound at Van Dyke, you could sit there for 15 minutes. It would be nice if they could make that an exit off M-59 to Van Dyke.

Full re-construction? I need to move lol

I'm 9.9 miles 15 minutes during the day less if I go in or home in the middle of the night because all the traffic lights are blinking
But... Driving a charter bus I usually get 400 miles added to it

What I want to know is, who is the idiot that invented these new traffic signals that monitor traffic flow? If you're not riding the cars ass in front of you, you catch every light and then have to wait for what seems like an eternity for it to turn green again. No more timing the lights and i'm sure people are using a lot more gas while sitting idling more. Also there's the road rage factor where people get more irritable from catching so many lights for so long.

Me, I wish we could go back to being able to time lights and no roundabouts (because a lot of people freak out).

An expressway to I-94 would. It would also correct a bad decision that was made years ago not to dig it. The service drive already exists. A median that wide serves no purpose except giving landscaping companies something to do.

Yes, the signals are idiotic. The sometimes 2 second red or green light does more harm than good. Roundabouts are good as long as people what to do, which they don't....

utica wouldn't allow m59 to be dug down, so thank them

That stinks. I always wondered why they just didn't take it all the way to 94. It would be so much better having a service drive for all of the stores and an expressway to move the traffic.

That I did not know. It's a shame when politics gets in the way of logic.

I don't think they took into factor the white flight that would start a decade after they widened it. Everything north of Hall Rd and east of Schoenherr was farmland back 20-some years ago.
