Woodward Heating Up Already

I had an appointment today at a place on Woodward and when I came out about 7:30 there were about a dozen nice Mustangs and a 300ZX cruising down Woodward together. It looks like they were leaving to beat the rain. It was a nice day to cruise. Man, I miss my old girl (Marauder).

Too soon, there is still salt down all over the place. I wouldn't even think of pulling mine back out until sometime in April (assuming it rains a lot and salt is gone).

I see that the Shell Station that was a popular spot to park south of Normandy is now being converted to a US Post Office. Bummer.

I'm fairly sure that isn't the case. I believe someone had mentioned that they were going to update and enlarge the gas station and then pave the whole area instead of having the unpaved area.

When I go to google maps and look at the shell gas station it's labeled as a U.S. post office. So, there may be some validity in this.

According to my Googling (?) it looks like there is or used to be a US Post Office sub-station within that gas station, which would explain Google Maps showing it as such.

The Mobil gas station by my house has a sub station in it as well, same result on Google maps....

Is Motown getting the same spot this year? Anyone know? Too soon?
I'm on the fence with getting that spot again. I'm always open to finding a new spot if we come across one. One way or another, we'll always have a lot.

Highly unlikely the government would buy land that is hazardous and build a post office.. Being a gas station it is contaminated ground. And purchasing it would make them responsible for the land, cradle to grave.

Lease is possible, but then they'd still have to do some serious clean up.

The owner of the gas station has a express post officenin the station, I'm assuming that is why it's showing up that way when doing a search.

I also heard that station needed all new pumps. Rumor has it, he is building new station down the road.

Went over to WW to meet 347convert and got to view Steve's new spot. Woodward looks to be very busy in that area.

Will Steve's parking lot be open to everyone and anyone, or will it be limited to MM guys? If MM guys, how do we "police" it? I can imagine pulling in to park and there not a free spot or a bunch of 16-17yo, revving their motors. which is cool and all, but draws unwanted attention. maybe we could talk them into joining MM and paying the registeration fee?
