**Woodward Dream Cruise Parking Aug. 15 2015**

Way too many giant hillbilly trucks in the right lane (which block the view of everyone spectating when they stay there), ghetto hoopties, rust buckets etc.
This is a good example of the problem. There is one legit ride and three useless trucks in the frame obscuring the view.

The one cop I spoke to THE FAT ASS ONE started bitching at me saying were a problem every year ? I looked at him and laughed and asked what trouble are we causing ? Then I explained we rent the lot for 48 hrs and how would you feel if after 36 hrs you were told to leave other wise your going to jail ? He told me he knows the property owner and will have a talk with him about not having us back next year! I'd be more than willing to sign a complaint over their Stormtrooper tactics.

I was there till the end, and witness to the bullshit bully tactics, and would love to sign a formal complaint if one is composed to forward on to the PD, as well as a thank you letter to the property owner reassuring our willingness to rent again next year. It would have been worth the price of admission to have the owner present for all of this when the cios show up to explain to the useless blimp that as the property owner, we are technically contracted as security for the lots after hours....

On a side note, that might be an option to discuss with the property owner for next year, that on top of our lease agreement for parking lot usage, we draw up an equal agreement between us and the owner to provide "security" for his property during the cruise to ensure no damage or vandalism occurs to the lot while we are present....Just an idea? We could get MM t-shirts made for the cruise that say "security" on the back, and some kind of Woodward/MM pic on the front.....

On a positive note, it was great meeting everyone, and getting to put faces to screen names, and names to screen names....Not that i remembered the names this morning, as the older i get the worse i get, but i will remember cars to faces..... Thanks for all your work Nick and Tony, it was a great weekend, and i enjoyed meeting folks and playing parking lot bouncer, (sorry Roadrage)....next year i'll have to round up a whistle and flashlight to hang from a belt.......shit, i don't wear belts....

That's funny that you got a picture of my grey f-250 there!! I'm pretty sure I was getting off the road at that point. I did try to be curtious to other people and keep my big pig in the far lane. It's the only vehicle I have that would make it through the cruise. My mustang tends to overheat in traffic.

Even with the drama it was a great time and glad to see everyone and Yes Thank You Nick and Tony for all the hard work ! And yes Nick you are to pretty yo go to jail ! LOL !

They technically can't but I didn't feel like going to jail last night to prove a point. It IS private property and i have a signed contract with the property owner that states the lot is ours until noon today. After they "charged" into the lot yelling and screaming that it was time to go, the first officer ran right to me and got in my face and shoved me with his chest. I'm sure quite a few of you still there saw this, he basically said what are u going to do about it and we can always see what the judge has to say about it on Monday morning. Complete unprofessional behavior on his/their part and he should have never put his hands on me. It could have been as simple as hey guys we need to shut it down soon and give people time to pack up etc. Luckily we'd already taken most things down and had them packed up. Looking back, I wish I would have gotten a name/badge #. I will be contacting the city of Huntington Woods police department on Monday morning. There's a right way and wrong way for them to do their job, we're a pretty mild group by the end of the evening so it's not like we're causing a public disturbance. Anywho, just wrapped up cleaning stuff up and repacking things for next year, hope everyone had a great time!

Jeez, that doesn't sound like fun at all. Why the hostility? Don't the police know where their bread is buttered. They think a bunch of car people with their pride and joy are looking for problems? I'd like to see a cost analysis of the WDC. Yes, more OT cost for police but the cities have to be getting some of that corporate money for the big displays, correct? I once read years ago that traffic accidents were LESS than a normal weekend with many times the cars. Cheers to those who keep the spirit alive but that's not my scene.

Maybe the property owner should appear at the police dept headquarters and file a complaint and let the commanding officer know that he owns the property and allows you guys to stay there every year and hasn't had one complaint. And, furthermore, he doesn't appreciate the police bullying and gestapo tactics they are performing on his friends.

I more or less stopped going there due to the Royal Oak police tactics. A high school friend got a 'jaywalking' ticket about 4 years ago and then 3 years ago, a group of about 10 cops ran across from the median and completely surrounded us. They then proceeded to open up and look into everyone's glass and write a ticket to anyone who had alcohol in their glass. Most of the people were sitting in their lawn chairs and not causing a disturbance...I understand the no alcohol rules, but once again, there was no probable cause and it is their gestapo tactics. More of a money grab and not for 'your safety' as they like to say.

Just my .02...grr

That was absolutely fucking ridiculous the way that department handled disbanding a bunch of car people sitting in a parking lot.

Five police cruisers, at least 7 guys, and a bullying attitude...they acted like they were about to go break up a gang fight in Pontiac. i've been around Woodward for at least 5 years now, and i've never been talked to or ordered around like that for not doing anything wrong.

Well....... You kinda are...... You stole my heart......... BUT others were innocent.

Gald I wasn't there. Ida been cuffed n stuffed.

The City of Flint just passed an ordinance stating police could kick people out of parking lots even while the owner is not there if s/he signs a consent form. It started with the party stores but other businesses have signed up as well. It stops folks from loitering even when a business is closed.
I know you had a contract and who knows if the cop would have believed you had you showed it to him. I do have a pair of GoPro cameras if you need them for next year.

Damn! We must have rolled out just barely before all the "excitement".

Big thanks to Nick for handling everything like he always does. We had a great time.

Anybody know what jurisdiction that was? The Tahoe that pulled up in front of us was unmarked.

Well when I was stopped and ticketed last year, it was a Huntington Woods police officer who gave me the ticket.

On another note, Thanks Nick and Tony for getting everything set up again this year. I had a great time as did my brother and Jim. Your hard work didn't go unnoticed.
