8.3t. Firearm; defined; exception. The word
"firearm", except as otherwise specifically defined
in the statutes, shall be construed to include
any weapon from which a dangerous projectile
may be propelled by using explosives,
gas or air as a means of propulsion, except any
smooth bore rifle or handgun designed and
manufactured exclusively for propelling BB's not
exceeding .177 calibre by means of spring, gas
or air.
Rifled .177 pellet gun, no. It;s a fire arm. A smooth bore BB gun, yes.
Sec. 18-308. Discharge of other firearms.
It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge a firearm not covered by section 18-307:
(1) Within an area of one hundred (100) yards from any building, structure or edifice whether occupied or unoccupied;
(2) Upon any platted land or within one hundred (100) yards of any public or private school real property;
(3) Upon or across any public road or highway within the city.

You can try mine out, if you would like...I bought it with the intention of taking out the familiy of 'chucks that built condos around the property.
I wish I would of gone with the .22 instead....The houses here are far enough apart, and I play with fireworks enough that no one would know the difference.
I've never done it, but if you snipe them from inside a house with a subsonic .22, or a .22 short, it's almost silent outside.
