Yeah, I agree on both points. But how the hell does somebody make that monthly payment if they don't have the money to begin with?

They don't. But even if they make the payments for a year, the loan makes a profit.

Off Topic: Anyone see the diclaimer on the direct tv commercial where the guy is laying under the ice during a hockey game? It says "this should not be attempted without longjohns" thought it was kinda funny.
